Numbness in the R Ankle and Foot while Riding Horses Posted: 08-03-06 07:30am
hi i was wondering if you could give me
some information on my problem.....i have
been riding horses nearly all my life but
stopped for a few years ..but about 2
years ago i got on a horse and my right
ankle and foot went numb ..and when i get
off it disappears ....do u have any idea
what it might be and if i can fix it ...i
asked my dr and he didnt seem to fussed to
even talk about it ... thankyou

The riding posture in the saddle can
create pressure in the sciatic nerve,
directly causing numbness in the
extremities. When you dismount, the
pressure on sciatic nerve is relieved and
numbness disappears. You can try changing
the horse’s saddle and observe any
possible difference in the condition.
