All babies are different. There is no definite time frame for any of these questions. I have a 2 1/2 month old.
As with the bottles, you only need to sterilize them before you use them for the first time and then once a week to keep them clean.

I dont know if youve heard of these books, but they will answer all these questions you have:
"what to expect the first year" and " your babys first year week by week"

these are excellent resources!

how long till he can hold his own bottle? .Babyhood is such a very short time, hold them as long as you can during bottle feeding, even when they can hold their own bottles. This usually starts to happen around 4-6 months.

when do they start to crawl ? all babies are different in their mobility and it depends on how much tummy time they are getting. The time frame is about 6-12 months on crawling. But it can just as easily start a little earlier depending on the baby.

when is it safe to stop sterilizing bottles and everything? you don't need to sterilize the water if you know it is safe to drink (like out of your tap). But keeping the bottles and nipples sterilized weekly like the pp said is a good idea.

he's eating 8 ounces closer and closer together should he be on cereal? why not up the amount he eats at a time? Talk to your doctor about when to start him on cereal.

when can they sit up on there own ? starting about 4+ months. They'll be wobbly at first and fall over a few hundred million times, but eventually they get the muscles that help them sit.

when do they start to get teeth? around 6+ months, I think. They usually get the front bottoms first. A lot of drooling happens.

when do they say there first words? first real words or first mumbo jumbo words? Around 6+ months they start jabbering.

when can they start drinking things other than formula? drinking other things like juice? Talk to your doctor. Never give juice bottles at bed times. Juice is not necessary.

its 50 degrees celcius where I live right now, anybody know some creative ways to keep him cool? Both walking and in the car? I just left mine in their diapers when it got hot.

how old r they when they eat baby food? 6+ months. Usually you start feeding them baby cereal and move on to vegetables from there.

Baby books are excellent resources for all your questions! Try your local library, they probably have tons.

Good luck!!

Hay girl!!!!!! How's your little angel doing?!?!?!? I def. Want to see some pics!!!!!

Kayoni holds her bottle when it's about half way done. She started holding it with her fists, now she open hand holds it!!

She started eating baby food, as you know, at 5 weeks. ((of course every doctor is different)) she starts meats this week.

It's waaaaay hot and muggy outside here too so what I do is go outside with her and strip her down to just her diaper. I wet her hair and body and always keep a fan on her. I give her cold water as well when we're chillin outside.

As for sterilizing the bottles, I don't anymore. I just wash them every night in extreemely hot water w/ bleach alternative soap.((from dawn))

kayoni hasn't started to crawl yet, but she lifts her body from the laying down to the sitting up position. She does sit ups!! Haha...She's a ball!!
We've started using the bath seat instead of a baby tub. She loves it!! She splashes around and causes chaos in the tub!!

I def need to see some updated pics of your man!!! I bet he's getting big!!!!

The advice might be different elsewhere but here in the uk it is advised that you wash and sterilise baby bottles before every use and not just weekly. This needs to be continued up until the baby is 12 months of age, when you can just wash the bottles in hot soapy water. You can sterilise bottles and make up a day's worth of milk and keep them in the fridge as long as you use them within 24 hours. That will save time.

Looks like all your questions have been answered- as far as the sterilising goes- you can generally stop steralising the bottles at about 6 months.
We still use boiled water even though our daughter is nearly 9 months now.
I always worry about the chlorine content and stuff.
To be honest we kept sterilising our first baby's bottles up untill 6 months (we'd give them a good wash and a good long hot rinse)
with the second- we started putting the bottles, teats and all in the dishwasher when she was about 3- 4 months old, and pretty much stopped sterilising then too (it gets good and hot in there)
she's never had any problems.

My two cousin's babies (around the same ages) were constanty getting stomach bugs, and a couple of times even ended up staying in hospital overnight.
They were both independently told by docotrs that they were doing too much sterilising, and it was compromising the babies natural immune system- as soon as they encountered any bacteria, they'd were terribley ill. He said they needed to be exposed to small amounts, to build up their resistence- like, no need to let 'em eat out of the bin, but stop using antibacterial soaps and sterilising fluid on everything.

that part is so true! The baby needs to build an immune system, and if you constantly sterilize everything, then it wont get a change to. Most people I know just sterilize once a week to keep the bottles clean.
