New to Rheumatoid Arthritis
Posted: 08-02-06 10:24am

Hi everyone.

I am 24 and have just found out I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands. I just wondered if anyone has any tips for coping or dealing with the pain?

I have read a million things by different people but just wanted some advice from people who have actually experienced it htemselves.

Thank you in advance.

Pain

Hi,

i am 40 and have had this for almost 9 years. Best for pain relief was vioxx, but it was banned for causing heart problems.

I am now on ibuprofen 600mg, 3 times a day, which helps.

Your consultant should have you on a 2nd line treatment. I have ben on sulphasalzine for 4 years, but it is now not as effective as it was and have just sstarted on humira.

Dont let it get you down, I still work, despite having had an elbow replacement 19 months ago (was off work for two weeks). Don't give in to it!

Good luck!
