Over the weekend I was on a friend's
speedboat, when he came about really
quickly and with no warning. I was thrown
against the side of the boat very hard,
hitting my chest, just above my breasts,
on the edge of the boat. The pain in the
left-hand side of my chest was severe for
a couple of days - I had to hold my hand
on that side up to my shoulder to release
the pressure, but as the bruising came out
and the swelling went down, the pain there
has eased. However, for the last two days,
I have suffered some extreme shooting
pains in the centre of my chest when, for
example, pushing myself up into a sitting
position in bed. Also, I have a constant
feeling that there's something trapped in
my throat around that area, similar to the
feeling you sometimes get from swallowing
a tablet and having it 'stick'. This
feeling is compounded by taking a deep
breath, although this only occasionally
causes any actual pain.
However, the pain, when I do get it, is
very similar to that I experienced a few
years back when i cracked a couple of
(fairly low) ribs.
I'm travelling at the moment so can't see
my regular doctor, and I don't speak the
local lingo. Any ideas what this might
be?
