I Hate Yeast!!! And Bc Posted: 08-01-06 11:24am
Ok I just need some responses. I've
been on birth control for close to 4 years
now and i've tried every type of birth
control I can imagine but stuck with the
alesse b/c it caused the least amount of
side effects. Over the past year
though i've been having yeast infections
like crazy, it's only august and i've
already had 6 infections this year, they
say it's abnormal to have 4 a year.
Plus I get so much discharge, weight loss,
no sex drive whatsoever, acne, you name
it....Miserable. So i've decided to
get off it mainly because me having all
these infections is driving me and my
boyfriend crazy, not to mention it's
embarrassing to have to tell him everytime
I have one. I was just curious if
anyone else has ever suffered from many
yeast infections while on the pill and if
they got off of it and got rid of them.
My doctor says she is a strong believer
that birth control does not cause
infections but that's the only thing left
to blame since every other part of me is
healthy!
Course, now i'm going to be extremely
apprehensive everytime we have sex about
getting pregnant but I can't keep having
these yeast infections, you ladies know
what it's like, but to get them once a
month. Oh yeah, it sucks majorly!!
Any responses?

Well, I definitely think birth control
pills can trigger yeast infections. I
don't remember having a yeast infection
before I went on the pill. Once on the
pill, i'd have 1 or 2 each year. Now,
i'm just over 2 months off the pill after
7 years on it, and i've already had 3
yeast infections! Good grief...I know it
is related to stopping the pill as nothing
else is different with me. I remember
reading a post by a woman on a different
forum who said after stopping the pill she
would have like 1 yeast infection a month
and it went on for a whole year. Her
doctor also dismissed the fact that it was
related to the pill, but i'm not so sure.
So if stopping the pill can bring on
yeast infections (i think it does), it
seems that being on it could also make
people more prone to them.

Yeast Infections Posted: 08-02-06 22:24pm
Oh believe me i"ve been checked again and
again for stds (even though i've been with
the same partner for 5 years) and every
papsmere i've had has come out negative so
they only thing it could possibly be is my
birth control. Yeah it's comforting to
know i"m not the only one who gets these
things alot, I always wondered if I was
the only one dealing with all these yeast
infections. I've just had so many
problems with birth control and it's
driving me crazy. Nothing good has come
from getting on birth control except
preventing me from getting pregnant which
is great of course but still.
I just hope getting off the pill will make
me normal again as you said, iluveminem.
I'm determined to do eat right and do
everything to help. I guess I could
just be prone to them but let me know if
you get one while you're off the pill ok?
Thanks for your responses y'all. It
makes me feel a little better. :)

I've been on bc pills for just 3 months so
I don't know if it really cause yeast
infections..Though when I was on
nuvaring..It really cause some itching i'm
not sure if it is yeast infection..But
yeah if you are having trouble with yeast
infection caused by your birth control I
suggest you try iud...If you are scared of
it..Don't be..I have it and still happy
about it..Try copper iud and it is good
for 10 years...No hormones...No pills to
remember..10 years of contraception w/o
yeast infection for sure! No condoms to
put every intercourse...No nothing..

I have been dealing with chronic yeast
infections for years.
Yeast is present in normal amounts in the
colon and digestive tract. There are
other bacterial flora that keep it in
check...Until something happens. Sugar
feeds the yeast called "candida albicans",
so diet has a lot to do with its
overgrowth.
Are you eating a lot of breads, cereals,
sugar?
Maybe try to cut these out of your diet.
Also, a poor or weak immune system can
trigger overgrowth of yeast, especially if
you take antibiotics. Antibiotics kill
all intestinal flora...The good and the
bad. So, I stay away unless absolutely
necesary.
A good way to test for candida is to take
a glass of water in the morning right when
you wake up, before you put anything into
the mouth. Deposit a small amount of
saliva in the glass. Leave it for a few
minutes. If it floats, it's clean of
yeast. If it sinks, you've got yeast
overgrowth...You can even see the yeast as
it collects, multiplies, and gets
heavier.
Finally, infections can be passed back and
forth between sexual partners. Your bf
will have to get a prescription for a
cream applied to the testicles.
Otherwise, the infection is hopping back
and forth between you.
All based on consultations with medical
doctors, acupuncturists, and aryuvedic
pracitioners...And my own experience.

I have also suffered from recurrent yeast
infections ever since I switched my birth
control two years ago. My doctor told me
that unfortunately once you begin to have
them, it is difficult to get rid of them
even if you switch your pill or stop
taking it (although some pills might cause
them more often in some women).
I have had great success with taking oil
of oregano, garlic, probiotics, and flax
oil pills (all available at your local
health food store) for controlling the
yeast. All of these natural supplements
help kill yeast, and probiotics replenish
"good" bacteria to the area. I have only
had one infection since I began this
regimen and am continuing on the pill.
Good luck, it's frustrating!

That's odd. Ive been on my pill almost a
year and never got one. Actually, I had
one but that was because I was on anti
biotics for 10 days for a bad infection.
Otherwise, I never have

I am also on the pill and have gotten
yeast infections ever since...When I
switched to yasmin, I noticed they
stopped...I would reccomend switching
which pill or taking a preventatory action
such as the azo yeast tablets you can get
at any drug store. Stopping the pill for
that reason might cause you more stress
and frustration or ...Pregnancy...It might
be safer for you to stay on it, but I know
what you mean, it is stressful and
embarassing
