I was just wondering when your pregnancy
would be considerd full term because ive
looked on the internet and theres
controversy over whether its 36 weeks or
37 weeks because im 37 weeks tomorrow and
was wondering. Any inputs would be
helpful

At 37 weeks they wouldn't stop your labor,
if that is what you are talking about.
They might stop labor @36 weeks.
Full term is usually 37+ weeks. At 36
weeks you would be a full 4 weeks
undercooked. My sister had an emergency
c-section @36 weeks. Her doctor didn't
consider the baby premature, but she also
wasn't full term.
Confusing, huh?

Yeah that definately is confusing, but its
helped. So would the baby have a high
chance of survival if it is born three
weeks early? Just wondering because the
midwife says I wont last much longer

Doctors have all sorts of technology. The
closer they are to their due date the more
their chances increase! You baby will be
fine!

yes, but don't count on your midwife
saying you won't last much longer. My
doctor told me he would 'see me any day'
starting at about 37 weeks. My daughter
was more than 1 week overdue. There is no
way to really tell how long it will be.
Even people who have premature labor can
go overdue. Prepare for the worst
(overdue) and hope for the best (full
term) ;)

Yeah im getting the feeling that the
midwife is wrong and that ill be two weeks
overdue (thats what im dreading!)
especially since my midwife is as dotty as
you can get them! I did want to change
midwifes but I didnt get round to it.
Well ive had enough of being pregnant so
im hoping I wont be overdue! Especially
since the baby is already a big baby!

Hi - I went to .Parentcraft class and
there were a couple of midwives who
chatted to a group of us pregnant ladies
about what to expect in labour and stuff.
I remember distinctly one of them telling
us not to worry if we pooed ourselves in
labour because it was quite normal and a
good sign that the labour was progressing
well and I thought ''oh f**king hell!!!'.
As it goes, when I was in labour I think
the prime minister could have walked in
and I wouldn't have cared!!!

They didn't stop my labour at 37 weeks.
She was tiny, so i'd see if you could
limit your activities (sex, lifting, etc.)
for the next couple of weeks. Having sex
sent me into labor.
Mel, I thought the cramps I was having
was poop cramps so I let a load out before
I left for the hospital!! Thank god! Cuz
the pushing is the same as when you
poop!!

Just got back from my parentcraft meeting.
It lasted two hours of sitting down of
uncomfortable chairs in rows. It felt
like I was in school listening to the
teacher but this time I was pregnant! I
felt out of place. I was the youngest
there and also the furthest gone because I
had to organise them myself and it took so
long to get on the list. Everyone else
was like 28-30 weeks and im 37 weeks! So
not fair. I thought I wouldn't feel like
such a heffalump but I did! :( at least
the midwife talking was really nice and
didnt look down on me like some midwifes
do. She gave out such useful information
aswell and gave us all a panflet each. I
even met a couple of people I already knew
so not too bad in the long run. Should be
going back next week, same time. :d

So you're the organizer of the meetings??
That's cool..What are the meetings for
exactly? Parentcraft?
I'm just asking a lof of questions cuz I
don't know much about it. I like to learn
things if ya know what I mean!

Today was more about labour itself and
what to expect when you go into labour
itself. She asked what we thought were
the signs of labour itself and everything.
As I was further along, the midwife
wanted to make sure that I was prepared
and that my bag was packed and everything.
Next week will be more about the options
of pain relief, which I already went
through with my midwife when I had the
tour of the hospital

So what are you thinking in terms of pain
relief? Do you want to go drug-free or
are you considering the epidural? Didn't
we have this convo already!? Lol...My
memory is shot now that i"m a mommy!!
Which ever you choose, it's the best
experience to give birth! C-sections are
amazing as well.
So what's the meeting gonna be about next
week?

I want to just have gas and air. I dont
really want anything else. Im also
thinking about a water birth aswell as
water relaxes me totally. Next week will
be about pain relief options, not that ill
really need to be there though because my
midwife went through it all when I had the
tour at the hospital. But tis nice to
meet all the mothers to be aswell :d im
not sure whats going to be in the week
after, but the last one (which happens to
be my due date) is about breast feeding,
which im certainly not going to because
ive already decided to bottle feed.

It's best to have a strict birth plan. I
knew exactly what I wanted when I entered
the hospital. I only had oxygen. No
epidural, gas, or i.V. It was incredible
to be in the moment and feel every second
of it!!
Make sure that you have someone (pref.
Your midwife or doula) present to talk you
through the contractions. That helps when
they calmly whisper as you breathe through
them.
My next baby i'm planning a water birth.
I didn't get one this time because my
hospital didn't have a tub, only a shower.
So I took it!! Lol!!
Just know that delivery is possible drug
free. No gas, no nothing. It won't be a
pain that will kill you. Squat and sway
your hips as much as possible!!! Squat
and sway!! You'll have your baby in no
time!!
I got to the hospital at 5pm and had her
at 7:58pm!! I'm talking quick!!

I dunno about a strict birth plan being
necessary.. Personally I think it's best
to keep an open mind.. You never know
what'll happen. And how you feel about
something now may be completely different
to how you feel about it during labour.
I'm not writing a plan for my birth.. I
have a good idea of what I would like to
happen, but if it doesn't, then so be it..
As long as I have a healthy baby at the
end of it I don't mind! =)
