My name is zenab shah and I am a girl from
london. Tell me a bit about you. I am 18
years old.
And this is my story.
I was diagnosed with ankylosing
spondylitis. In april 2004.I was 16.
Ankylosing spondylitis is a is a
painful, progressive, rheumatic disease.
It mainly affects the spine but it can
also affect other joints, tendons and
ligaments. Other areas, such as the eyes,
lungs, bowel and heart can also be
involved.
I missed half of my gcse year. I couldn't
do any of my gcse. That I was going to do
befor I was diagnosed.
Then I started my first college year in
september 2004.
I find it soooo difficult to do all my
studies and cope with the pain at the same
time. And the people in my class were so
horrible to me. Thay never spoke to me
and I tried to make friends with them but
they didnt want to know.
The pain got too much to bear and I missed
a lot of college and I missed a lot of
work. So I finished the course in january
2005
i do see a rheumatologists at the royal
free hospital. He is really not nice at
all. Every time I go to him and tell him
I am in too much pain and I don't sleep he
just says keep taking the tablets and
exercise.
When I was diagnosed I started doing
physio for about a year. And it had no
change to the pain. It made it more
painful for me.
Then I waiitted 6 months to do hiydro
therapy. And I didnot like it because
alfer being in the water the pain got
worse.
I cant believe that my doctor sad to me
all the pain you arein might be all in
your mind and that you mite be amagning it
all.
So he refured me to a physcologist.
Physcologist and
was very nice to me. And I see her on a
reguler bases. I talk to her about
everything that I am feeling.
Then I was refured to the pain mangment
clinic.
Thay put me on the list for getting
accupist.
I started a few months of the accupust.
And everytime I got it it didn't make the
pain any better.
I started the college of north west london
in september 2005.
And I selltaled in very quickley. And my
teachers were very under standing about my
whole thing.
And I have made loads of new friends who I
feel understand me. And thay are always
there for me when ever I came to college
with a lot of pain thay try and make my
day a little easer.
.
I have through so much in the past 2
years. That I feel like I cant cope
anymore.
All I do all day is try my eyes out and
its very hard to study when I have soooo
much pain in my back.
I have also have problems with my
ears, eyes, legs but I have had to deal with
it all my life.I try and take one day at
a time.
I am feeling very deprest and my pain gets
too much for me too cope with.

Suggestion For As & Arthrits Treatment Posted: 01-25-07 01:05am
In ankylosing spondylitis (as) disorder,
certain joints of the spine become
inflamed, then stiffen and become rigid.
If confined to the lower back, as causes
virtually no limitation of movement. In
some cases, however, the entire spine may
become rigid and bent. If the joints
between the ribs and spine are affected,
berating problems may result as the chest
wall’s ability to expand becomes
limited. More than 400,000 americans
suffer from as. Twice as many men as
women have the disorder.
An effective diet will go a long way
toward controlling arthritis for many
people. Flaxseeds and cold-water fish are
high in essential fatty acids and have
anti-inflammatory properties. Salmon and
mackerel are good examples. Eat lots of
fiber in the form of raw vegetables and
whole grains. Cruciferous vegetables such
as broccoli and cauliflower also have
anti-inflammatory properties. Food high
in sulfur will help repair cartilage and
bone.

may be of interest to you.
Arthritis is a chronic disease of the
joints, especially the weight-bearing
joints that develops when the linings of
joints degenerate, leading to lipping and
spurring of bone, pain, and decreased
mobility and function.
The following nutritional components may
be beneficial. Glucosamine sulfate can
help relieve joint pain and rebuild
cartilage. Msm (methylsulfonylmethane) is
a natural anti-inflammatory nutrient.
Chondroitin sulfate provides nutritional
support for cartilage formation.
Bromelain, devil claw, yucca, and alfalfa
are anti-inflammatory herbs. Ginger
extract possesses strong anti-inflammatory
activities and is also helpful for
pain-relieving. Boswellia serrata extract
is a powerful ayurvedic herb that has been
shown to reduce inflammation. Same is
thought to be beneficial for joint and
connective tissue disorders. Evening
primrose oil contains gla, a potent
anti-inflammatory essential fatty acid.
