((comfort)) I am so sorry to hear about all of your health problems hon!! I can truly relate, though! Hopefully they will get the shingle and problems with your legs under control!

My problems havent been from my gallbladder surgery. That has been fine. The only problem I can see that may have something to do with it is that I have severe ibs!! It sucks! My other health problems range from pcos, high blood pressure, diabetes, carpal tunnel in both hands/wrists, as well a a tons of other crap. It really does suck. I havent felt healthy in so long! What is even worse is that I am only 34! Sigh like I said, I can relate to you! Do you have a hubby or kids that can help you out while you arent feeling well? Take care!

Towie, I am not a dr but my suggestion is that if your leg is not getting any better that you should get referred to a neuro, you do have a right for a second opinion, let him check you out.
I heard that when they use staples that you have less scaring , that is what they used on my neck surgery fusion two times and on my carpal tunnel, . Both hands.
I myself am kind of tired of dr's! I lost my medical insurance, I am disabled do to ms, rsd, optical neuritus, I fall alot, even with a cane I do have a whhel chair(electric) but I am not ready for that, I have had 22 surgeries I also have peripheral neuropathy, ddd, djd, fibromyalgia, among other problems, about all the dr can do is take some of the pain away. Thank goodness I have a good husband that takes out on my electric scooter and I am so thankful that I have my dogs, although I do miss working and driving but I do the best I can so I totally understand what you are going thru jenine I am glad that your baby is okay, I hope you get better!
The best to all

It's been a rough year but it seems like I have been lucky compared to you. When you said the last 13 years have been rough, you weren't kidding. I will be 44 next month and like I said before prior to this year my only problem was my thyroid. I would occasionally get sick with a sore throat and last year I did have pneumonia but other than that have been fortunate enough to be healthy. That's why when this year rolled around a few people were stunned because I never get sick. I looked at the summary for my health insurance since january and there were over 40 claims processed for doctors. I have a 16 year old daughter. Need I say more? She stayed home the day I had surgery only because I told her she had to and then it was just me and the dog after that. But I am a self-sufficient person and am used to doing things on my own.

Thanks, I appreciate your kindness, take care of yourself and be well. If you want to keep in touch email me.

My leg doesn't hurt like it did but it is still numb and when you touch it it feels like it is bruised. My doctor told me to call her after I finished taking the medication if it wasn't better. The gastro doctor I know said it sounds like shingles, however he would like to rule other things out. He said after everything is checked which may cause the problem with my leg, then he would suggest a neurologist. He said it is possible something is pressing on a nerve and that he would want to do a colonscopy, xrays, ct scan but I told him I wanted to wait a bit. I'm just tired of being poked and prodded.

Like jeannine, you also seem to have been going through hell. You didn't lose you health insurance because of your disability, did you? I have a friend who has ms and has to use a wheel chair. She no longer works and can't drive either. I don't know what I would do if I were in that situation. I am constantly on the go besides work and other things I am involved in. I had a hard time after my surgery being cooped up in my house. You are lucky to have a good understanding husband. I call people like him angels. As for the dogs, there is nothing like having a dog. I am sure they are right there beside you and always filled with love. Mine follows me around the house and goes with me whenever she can. Take care of yourself, be well and email me if you want to chat. My address is in the above post.

Thanks!
Sandy, thanks for the well wishes!! I am so sorry that you have to deal with ms and stuff! That really sucks! I am glad that your hubby is so helpful, though! That is great :)

towie~

i agree with sandy, hon! If your leg isnt getting any better, then you definetly need to see a doctor again! Better safe than sorry, ya know?! Are you diabetic by any chance? That could cause you to heal slower, etc......As for me...Yeah, I am sick to death of being ill and feeling like crap all the time! Its very difficult esp with working full time and having 3 kids! Thank god for my fiance! He is very helpful. (so are the kids) as for my insurance...No, I never had any problems with them with all my surgeries and doctors appt's! I was very lucky! I even had a breast reduction, fully covered by my insurance as well :) my current insurance sucks, though. I pay a 40$ co pay and my meds ( I take alot) cost me about 130$ a month with insurance! Sigh...Well, im off to bed. Ill write more tomorrow! Take care and have a great night! Btw, if you ever want to write/email me :) jeannine

Well, I called my doctor yesterday about my leg. It's still numb but doesn't hurt like it did. She said it is going to take a while to get back to normal. I am going to wait a bit and if it doesn't get better, I will have it checked out by the gastro doctor I know. Today I was off from work and went out to lunch with my daughter. I have resigned to the fact I cannot eat out in restaurants. Within 10 minutes of leaving, I had to rush to find a bathroom. It was a good thing we were in the mall. Three kids? God bless you. I can't deal with one, I couldn't imagine having three! But then again mine is a teenager. I know what you mean about not feeling well and having to work a full time job. It sucks. But I need to work to pay the bills. For the most part, I feel much better than I did. Now it's just the leg and the headaches, and watching what I eat, other than that i'm good. As for the diabetes, no I don't have that. I was checked for that back in may when I had cellulitis in my leg. It just seems strange to me that I have had one problem after another this year. And none of it is related. My insuranve is pretty good. I have direct access, so I don't need a referral to see a doctor. My co-pay is only $10 but I do pay about $125 every 2 weeks towards my insurance which covers me and my daughter. Prescriptions cost $10-$20-$35 depending on the drug. Well, I will have to go. Talk to you soon and take care of yourself. Keep in touch.

Hey there!! Good to hear from you :) im glad to hear that you got ahold of your doc!! I am also glad that you arent' in nearly as much pain, but the numbness sucks! Do you have major problems walking because of that?

It sounds like your insurance is similar to mine! My work changed our's last year for some crappy reason and it got worse if you can imagine that!! What sucks is that I pay about 130$ a month for all my meds and that is with insurance! Grrrrrr

yes! 3 kids! :) mine are teens too for the most part! My oldest daughter is 13 1/3, my other daughter will be 12 sept 28th and my son is 9! They definetly keep me on my toe's, that is for sure! Hehehe in actuality, I only wanted 2 kids..One boy and one girl, but we know how that works! Lol my middle daughter, haley was a surprise! I was on bcp's when I got ob with her! Talk about shock..Hehehe my son was the only planned pregnancy. Event hough its hard, I wouldnt change it for the world! Take care :)

Hi jeannine. The numbness is in my knee and thigh area. I only had a problem with walking and sleeping when I had the burning shooting pains through it. Right now it is sore when I touch it, like it is bruised and sometimes feels like it is sunburned, but it doesn't hurt like it did.

Our hr director was considering changing our health insurance last year, but my doctor was not in the new policy she was considering. I helped convince her to keep our current health insurance. I did not want to switch doctors just to save a couple of dollars. It wasn't worth it to me.

Ah, the lovely teenage years, especially with girls. Have you started with the attitudes yet? I am in the stage where everything is my fauly and I don't know anything. I'm told I have a couple more years before she starts liking me again. But I wouldn't change anything either. My daughter and I have always been close. She really is a good kid, but a little self absorbed at this age. Tell haley her birthday is a day before mine. She must be a really good kid. Lol.

I have to go to bed now, was up too early this morning. I went to work at 7 and am now exhausted. Take care of yourself and email me if you want.

I just read your email and had to laugh. You asked if there was anything they could do about my pain and 'dumbness'. No, there is nothing they can do about that. Lol. As for the numbness, she just said that it was going to last for a while but offered no solutions. If it persists I will call her again. It is not like it hurts all the time. It bothers me sometimes when I walk and at the end of the day. And sometimes when I am sleeping. It doesn't hurt like it did, so maybe it is getting better. One thing that has been happening though, I have been on an emotional rollercoaster. I thought it was from the medication (done with the prescriptions), then thought it was hormonal, but right now no excuse. I go from normal, to ticked off, to laughing to emotional. As for the dumbness, how did you know?? Lately it takes a while for things to pentrate. Who knows, maybe i'm just losing my mind! I have to ready for work tomorrow. Take care of yourself.

First I want to thank you for listening to me. I really appreciate your support. I feel like I am constantly complaining about one thing or another but this year has been a challenge for me. I was up until 4:30 this morning because my lower back hurt and my leg was bothering me. Finally I put a heating pad on it and went to sleep until 8am. So you can imagine what kind of mood I was in today at work, besides being on an emotional rollercoaster. Then I get a message to call the mammography place back. It was too late in the day to call them today so now I have to call them tomorrow. I went last friday and was in and out so I thought that was the end of it. Well, I should have known better. Every time I go to the doctor I have to go back a second time. I really can't take much more.

As for my teenage daughter, let's put it this way she is on death row this week. Another challenge. It is a wonder i'm not in a mental home yet. Thank god she went back to school today.

Thanks again and take care of yourself. I will talk to you soon.

Boy what a stressful week! I'm glad that one is over, now it is time to start another. I finally was able to sleep this weekend. Between wed & thurs I had 6 hours sleep. My legs were jumpy and I couldn't get to sleep. I went back on friday for another mammogram and thank god it was ok. They said see you next year and not to skip coming back. Again, I go for a check up and it winds up where I have to go back. I'm not finding this humorous one bit. I was talking to my mother today who was diagnosed with lupus not too long ago. We were talking about all of the problems I had this year and she told me to mention that she has lupus to my doctor. She said, which I didn't know, that it is hereditary. It took a long time, years, for her to be diagnosed.

As for my daughter, yes she still suffers from pms. But she can be wicked without it. Everyday is a challenge. I heard I have a few more years and things will get better.

Well, off to bed early tonight. Have to be to work at 7. I just hate mornings. Talk to you soon and take care of yourself.

Hey there!! I am so glad that your mammogram came out ok!! I had one several years back and they found 2 lumps in my right breast. They immediately did an ultra sound on it to confirm. I ended up having a biopsy and all came back ok. Thank god!

Yes, definetly mention the lupus to your doc. Better safe than sorry! I was having a crap load of symptoms so my doc did a bunch of blood tests. It came back that I have pcos! Talk about a shocker!

Sorry to hear about the lack of sleep, too! That can really be a horrible thing, esp if you work and have to get up early! I hope it has been better the last few days for you! Are your legs feeling better today? Take care!

Re: Post Laproscopic Gallbladder
I had surgery 8 days ago. I have a question about the surgical staples. They are very itchy, slightly red and the skin beneath them is still swollen. Anyone remember what the staples look like? How are they removed, etc... How long after surgery did they take them out?

I have been on a low fat diet since surgery and lost 6 lbs. I have trouble with puddings, milk, (still afraid to eat anything with fat).

I am ready to yank out the staples and am fearful of the pain it will cause when they are removed. I can't stand pain!

Thanks for any information.

Well, I had laporoscopic surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I was having all kinds of digestive and GI issues and losing weight and losing my appetite. Finally, after CT Scans, MRAs of Abdomen, KUB, Ultrasound of Abdomen, Colonscopy w/biopsy and Endoscopy w/biospsy, my GI specialist ordered a HIDA Scan which showed that my gallbladder was functioning at only 6% (low normal is 35%). I'm exactly 5 days out from surgery and getting around, but the incision around my belly button is still kinda of sore. Digestion appears to be okay, but today I did have a bit a nausea (first time for that since the operation). I'm hoping things get lots better from here on out.
