Q: Short Term Baking Soda Use..?

I am an overweight male of 40yrs with hypertension. I am currently suffering a gout attack and came accross this site. I will be going to the doctor tomorrow but I was wondering, does anyone know if you could take baking soda for short term relief without any adverse reaction to hypertension. I was thinking that a large intake of baking soda over a prolonged period would indeed increase hypertension. But at the moment my hypertension is under control, unfortunately I use a diuretic that increases uric acid.
Does anyone know if taking baking soda for a few days would cause a problem.
I dont usually suffer with gout for longer than a few days, I have had 1 episode this year which subsided after I adjusted my diet, but ive just come home from 2 weeks holiday and I guess I over did it on the alcohol and rich food.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi chill3d

the best advice that I can offer is to have your doctor investigate with you the possibility of sleep apnea. The fact that you are overweight makes it more likely that you have sleep apnea. People with hypertension and gout often develop those maladies as a consequence of sleep apnea. Check it out for your long-term health benefit, as well as a possible cure for your gout.
