I have an 11 year old son with an ongoing stomach ache problem. He's had regular bowel movements on a daily basis, never having any problem with constipation, however, he develops a stomach ache usually within a half hour after eating and has to have a bowel movement. He's complained for close to a year about these tummy aches, and for a while, I thought it was a psychological thing. I brought him in to the doctor the other day, and she did an abdominal x ray. She claims he's "full of poop" and constipated, and says that he's constipated throughout his intestines down to his rectum. Said to bring him home, feed him fiber and give him some laxatives. Well, i've done this...It's been about 5 days, and he's going poop about as much as he's always gone, and the stomach aches have intensified. She did also say that on the x rays she saw some little "white spots, but didn't know what they are"...Concerning to me....And here I am wondering...What do I do??...Should I bring the kid in for a second opinion, or could this indeed be a really bad case of constipation (remember, he has daily bowel movements). The stomach aches don't always subside after he has a bowel movement. Seems that lately, the heating pad helps. The pain is generally in the lower abdomen, all over. I'm confused..Not sure what to do, and wonder if anyone else has dealt with this same kind of thing....I hate seeing my little boy in pain. And he's not dealing with any issues at school, he's a well adjusted kid, no problems at home, everything is fine with him psychologically.
Help!!!!!

He had an abdominal x ray taken..Showed some bm in the intestines, and to the rectum, but it wasn't considered an obstruction....I was told to get him cleaned out, keep a diary of his food intake, and come back in 3 weeks for further testing....I ended up taking him in to er cause of this horrible pain, and the doctor said the symptoms could be indicative of either crohns or irritable bowel....After the 3 weeks of logging everything, we'll go back and go from there... Shocked

I just started reading this book called "cleanse & purify thyself" book 1, by richard anderson, n.D., n.M.D. And this is exactly what it talks about. It describes what happens to the body when we get backed up from too many toxins and not enough electrolytes. It also talks about how to go about purging your body of toxins and mucoids. This book also says, "constipation is characterized by having less then two bowel movements dailey, and even having two is less than ideal." I recommend this book..It could really help. I am about half way through the book and plan to 'cleanse' myself when I finish.

Other then that, your son (and everyone really) should try to eat more foods that are alkaline forming...Such as fresh and raw fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, figs etc. Hope your son gets better.

Have you tried an enema ,? Safe for children. U can be impacted and have reg bowel movements the other stool just works its way aroudn the obstruction , try metamucil too . But prob best bet would be an enema then the metamucil and upping his fiber but just fiber alone I doubt would clean the obstruction out

Hi, maybe you should bring up celiac disease at his next appoinment. If his pain occurs shortly after eating, it's possible that he's gluten-intolerant. Good luck Smile

wow. it sounds like he has some food intollerances. Possibly milk or gluten. Some people have sudden intense urges to go and cannot make it to the bathroom on time but don't know what is causing it. be aware that those intollerances sometimes will not show up on a blood test, but have to be eliminated from the diet for two weeks and then reintroduced one at a time to see which one it is.
