I was diagnosed with trigeminal n. A year ago. I am taking 1500mg of trileptol a day. Has anyone else been pregnant while on these meds.? My husband and I really want to have a baby but we don't want to put the baby in danger. My neurologist says there have been studies where there haven't been side effects for baby, but I am not sure.

Any thought?

trigeminal neuralgia and pregnancy
I was diagnosed in November 2008 with TN and "accidentally" got pregnant in December. I am 91/2 weeks pregnant right now. I am on Tegretol. Although I haven't gotten any definitive answers on the health of my baby as of yet, it is still in your favor to have a healthy baby on anti-seisure meds. I suggest you call OTIS, an organization that deals with prenancy and meds. They can give you specific statistics. Good luck!

Hello, I was just wondering if you have had your baby and if your pregnancy went smoothly. I was recently diagnosed with TN and have been prescribed Tegretol on a trail basis. I lost a baby over Christmas while suffering undiagnosed from TN. I am unsure if this would have caused the miscarriage. If you have any thoughts would appreciate if you could let me know.
Many thanks.
