Rash All Over- 1st Trimester And Dr. Is An A$$

Hello everyone...Like the title says, my doctor is an a$$. I called her 2 days ago to see if she wanted me to come in for a rash that developed behind my knee caps. She said not to worry. The next day I called to let her know it was on my hips now too. She said it was nothing. The next day, I called to let her know it was now on the fold of my elbows and stomach too. She said it could be serious, possibly kill the fetus, and I should go see my general doctor! What???? I am pregnant (7 weeks) and I have a rapidly spreading rash that could harm my unborn baby! I want to see my obgyn! I want to protect my baby- not me! I explained this to her and she bluntly told me she wasn't going to help me because I am technically not a real patient until I make it past the first trimester! Needless to say, I will be changing doctors. I am worried sick and tried to make appointments all over this county with no luck. I will be going to a walk in clinic tomorrow. Have any of you gotten rashed all over during the 1st trimester? Should I be overly concerned? I just started working (school) again this week and could have picked up anything from being around kids. Help! :-(

what?! Your doctor is an fool. That makes no sense.
I agree with you, you need a new doc. I have never heard of a rash like that. Did you just switch laundry detergents or soap? Have you eaten anything lately that you dont normally eat?

Do you have a local emergency room near you? I wouldnt wait.. If it is something serious or if you think that it is .. It is always good to be safe then sorry.. I would go there so that they could look you and your baby over. Good luck and keep us updated

Rash huh? I had the same deal. Sounds a lil different than mine though. I had horrible hives that lasted quite some time, I was also sick with a stomach virius on top of it. I was 8 weeks along. Im now 36 weeks and the babys fine according to the doctor...What I would do is go to the emercency room asap.

I got a rash all over my body when I was in my first trimester.. But it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics i'd been on and I had to take antihistamines to get rid of it. Your rash could be a reaction to something.. Try not to worry too much, but see someone about it as soon as possible, for your baby's sake.

Are you taking pre-natals? Could be a reaction to something in them. Or it could be pupp, which is common during pregnancy. Google pupp cause the link I keep trying to post is not working.

Oh, switch docs too.

I also had a rash for a while but thats probably because ive had exzema in the past and the midwife was quite concerned and still is and is keeping a closer eye on my rashes. Your doctor should be more concerened. Could you by any chance see another dr and get their opinion?

Okay here's my update...

My general doctor is away on vacation, my obgyn is still an a$$ and I am currently searching for a new one...So I had no choice but to go wait at a walk in clinic for 3 hours. Which was very hard since 3 days ago severe nausea has become a serious problem for me! The doctor their said it is poison oak. I probably got it from my husband who is currently obsessed with landscaping our backyard! The good news, the baby won't be affected by it! The bad news, my hubby feels bad! I am just so relieved and thank everyone for their support. I can't imagine what I am going to be like when my baby is out of my womb!

I'm glad all's good!! D@mn poison oak!! My fiance used to be a landscaper and I would force him to shower in hot water then rinse in cold to make sure he would get any and all of any poison off of him before I touched him...And I wasn't even preggy!! Lol...I don't like to itch!! It's the worst pet peeve ever!!!

Glad again to hear that you're fine!! I know it eases your mind!! Just wait...The paranoia will get worse!! I was a worry wart what I was preggy!!
That all went away though!!
