I am new to this forum and I need help. I am to see a surgeon next week
,hida scan showed gallbladder not working(stone maybe) in the last month, I have constant burping and excessive gas( I mean all the time: very loose stools and so nauseated so much of the time. I had a terrible attack right before christmas,so much pain.I went to my regular doc, then on for an ultrasound ,then a hida scan. I would like to know is this normal for gallbladder disfunction. I have just felt so bad. Please help. Thanks

Sue,

i am in the same boat. Hida came back today. Ejection percentage was 8% (i had to ask, the nurse just said "low"). I have had loose stools for a couple years, maybe more, but it never occurred to me as terribly odd.

I am meeting with a surgeon in 5 days to discuss the test results. I'm already pretty sure that the end result will be to get it removed.

The symptoms you have talked about look like cholecystitis or inflammatory changes in the gall bladder which are a common occurence due to a calculus or stone in the bladder. You need to rule out any gastritis, amoebiasis changes to ascertain whether the gall bladder is the only seat of the problem.

Needless to say for all the above symtpoms and causes homoeopathy has very good medicines to get rid of all the above.

Same Here
I am actually having surgery tomorrow for the same thing. For six years mine has been flaring up. The hida that I had years ago showed the gallbladder slowing... The one last week showed it at almost a stand still. It was hard trying to find a surgeon to help me. Most don't want to touch you unless there are gallstones. I know the pain and will be glad when it is over. It is normal, just alot of doctors doesn't take the pain seriously. Don't go through years of pain like myself... Find someone to help you take care of it. Good luck.

My doctor was the opposite. He took mine very seriously, which
made me wonder about it. My percentage was 23% and didn't
show any gallstones on the ultrasound or otherwise. The pain
is generally just a dull feeling with alot of gas and burping. Also,
i have mild lower back ache on occasion, and acid in the throat.

Two weeks ago it was bad, and I went to the doctor. After
going to the doctor, it gradually got better over time. The doctor
gave me an ultrasound which didn't show anything, and then i
just found out the results of the hydascan today. I'm skeptical
about what to do next, but the doctor said I need to get it removed
and that their isn't any other alternative. I know gallstones may
not have alternatives, but is it possible for the gallbladder to slow
if their are problems in the liver, stomach or other areas?

I'm 28, male.. And I don't know anyone in their 20s that
has had their gallbladder removed, only the appendix.

Any alternatives or other possible problems?

Gallbladder
Right before thanksgiving of last year, I was having problems with gas. I also have acid reflux disease. Anyway it lasted all night. Did not sleep. Four days later I had such pain that it was hard to catch my breath. I went to the er and because I had had dinner they could not do an ultrasound until the next morning. They gave me an antibiotic and morphine for the night. Came back the next morning had the ultrasound at 9am. Was still in the er at 3pm. The surgeon wanted to do surgery right then and there but I wanted to wait until after thanksgiving. Well she persuaded me to have it and I am glad I did. An infection was starting because I had a fever and the gallbladder was pressing on my liver and could have infected it. I had no warning because I thought it was just gas, but there was pain when she pressed on my right side. Don't wait have the surgery. Wink

I am 25 and I had my gallbladder and appendix removed almost a year ago. The doctor said he didn't think my gallbladder ever functioned. I have had problems since I was young. I had stones the size of quarters. I only had pain after I ate. The day before I ended up in the hospital was the only time I had any severe pain. I still unfortunatley am still having pain on the right side all the way over to my belly button. Im glad that I had the surgery but I just wish I knew what was going on now
