Q: 11 Year Old With Stomach Problems

I have an 11 year old son with an ongoing stomach ache problem. He's had regular bowel movements on a daily basis, never having any problem with constipation, however, he develops a stomach ache usually within a half hour after eating and has to have a bowel movement. He's complained for close to a year about these tummy aches, and for a while, I thought it was a psychological thing. I brought him in to the doctor the other day, and she did an abdominal x ray. She claims he's "full of poop" and constipated, and says that he's constipated throughout his intestines down to his rectum. Said to bring him home, feed him fiber and give him some laxatives. Well, i've done this...It's been about 5 days, and he's going poop about as much as he's always gone, and the stomach aches have intensified. She did also say that on the x rays she saw some little "white spots, but didn't know what they are"...Concerning to me....And here I am wondering...What do I do??...Should I bring the kid in for a second opinion, or could this indeed be a really bad case of constipation (remember, he has daily bowel movements). The stomach aches don't always subside after he has a bowel movement. Seems that lately, the heating pad helps. The pain is generally in the lower abdomen, all over. I'm confused..Not sure what to do, and wonder if anyone else has dealt with this same kind of thing....I hate seeing my little boy in pain. And he's not dealing with any issues at school, he's a well adjusted kid, no problems at home, everything is fine with him psychologically.
Help!!!!!

11 Year Old Stomach
I have a 13 year old having problems with going to the bathroom since he was little. He has in the last year had cronic problems, if you even question about getting a second opinion, then do it, I am, go with the mother instinct. Mother knows best!

Is there something he eats or drinks regularly that could be bothering him? Does he drink milk or tea at every meal? When I was growing up I would get the worst stomach pains and never could figure out why (although my parents never bothered to try and find out what it was) but when I got older I realized I was lactose intolerant when I got to college and went from drinking it every day to once in a blue moon. This is not to say it could be milk, but maybe something in his diet that he is either allergic to or doesn't digest well. Also, have they done a ct or tests to show the abdomen? Or at least blood tests to determine if the liver, pancreas, and gall bladder are working properly?

11 Year Old With Stomach Problems
In the past three weeks my son too has had almost identical symptoms to your son. He is also 11 years old, and is very well adjusted. Avisit to the emergency room showed an abdominal xray full of poop. We too tried laxatives but the stomach pains increased. It seemed the only thing that helped was the heating pad. I have taken him to 2 doctors but with little answers. I would be greatful to here of any help you have recieved or found out. Thank you, trs

13 yr old with abdominal pains
My 13 yr old son has had continual abdominal pains for almost 3 months. He has had xrays, blood tests, CT scan, upper GI scope, ultra sound, and Hydascan(spelling ?). His xrays showed major constipation. He drinks miralax on a regular basis. The ultra sound and hydascan showed that his gallbladder was only functioning at 4%. He has had his gallbladder removed. The constipation could've been from a bad gallbladder. He now has episodes of excruciating pain and the regular pain. He eats very little. All blood tests, urine tests, and xrays come back normal. He has seen our reg. dr., 3 visits to the ER, is still seeing a pediatrician GI specialist. I was advised to contact a childrens hospital. They can't see him for 4 months. Plz give me more ideas. thanks CC

Please take your son to a specialist such as a Gastrologist to check his colon it may be that he has a gallbladder problem which i had and had constant diarrhea.
