Please Help, Scared, No Insurance, Need Advice.

Hi.

I'm a 19 year old female. I have no insurance right now, so i'm not able to just make a doctor's appointment. If it seems like it's something more serious, though, I might find a doctor and just pay for it.

Problem 1:

i've dealt with this problem before, but it would come and go after 1 day, or just hours. But, for the past few days, it's been coming frequently and staying longer.

I'm not sure what triggers it, because it seems to happen very randomly. A few weeks ago it happened after I had just been at my friends house for a while, went outside for a few moments on the front steps. Only thing I touched in that time was her railing. Not too much later I noticed my hands were having issues.

Here is what happens to them...

I see red blotches, with no particular shape...Sort of round, but blotchy none the less. They appear to be under the skin, but can still be seen. My hands start to feel "tight" for lack of a better word, have a tingly/almost itchy feeling that I find rather hard to explain.

It's very uncomfortable, and scary because i'm not sure what it means.

Sometimes the red blotches will go away and white ones will show instead. At this point the tightness/uncomfortable feeling is much less severe but still a little bit noticable.

If this makes any difference...When I shovel or clean off a car in the snow, or work with a shovel or something for too long, my hands get very tight, swollen, and appear sort of white/red and very tense/hard.

Now on top of this, starting last night I have a sore throat. The pain is something I can deal with, but I can't tell if it will get worse or not. My throat feels somewhat slimey, but not too bad. My nose is a little bit runny, also not bad at all.

But still, i'm scared that this might be a severe situation so please help.

If I was you I would go to the hopital and have them check you out I have never heard of something like that happening so just go to the er. Then you can pay payments on that bill.... How long has this been happening?

Well the problem that happens while shoveling has sort of always been there. I remember it used to happen to my legs when i'd be outside playing for a while in the snow.

The blotches, i'm honestly not too sure when the first time I noticed it was. But sometimes my fingers would randomly feel swollen. I just assumed the issues had something to do with each other, that it was my diet and the amount of sodium/water I was taking in.

I've recently changed my diet a lot, cut sodium out as much as possible, and have lost about 57 pounds since january. Now, I don't have problems with my fingers/hands randomly swelling but this red blotch problem is there still.

I feel like maybe it has something to do with circulation, but i'm not sure. I have been spending a lot more time at home and on the computer the last few days. But, I used to spend a lot of time at the computer when I was a little younger and this wasn't an issue. So, I dunno if sitting at the keyboard for so long has anything to do with it.

They also have those immediaate care facilities that are similar to er if you do not like going to er but their are also dr and hospitals that will take payments and some will even knock some off the bill if you do not hve insurance. Have you applied for state aide?
Good luck?

Hi, I am not sure what state you live in but it is very important you find out about any aid for your state for people whom do not have health insurance. The matter at hand is your health and your body (you only have one in a lifetime)! Its signs that your body give off to let us know something isn't right, we must listen. It amazes me how we take care and time of everyone and thing else but ourselves we second guess and procrastinate.

I'm not a doctor, but the blotches may be a sign from your body when you are overheating or overexercising.

When spending a lot of time doing no exercise (keyboarding is no exercise), and suddenly doing something, even just standing up quickly, your body can't react that fast so there is not enough blood and nutrients going to all your body, so you may feel dizzy and you may get blotches.

You also mention that you lost 57 pounds being 19 years old, this tells me you were overweight, or you're anorexic, neither is good.

Recommendations: go see a doctor, eat and exercise properly to reach the recommended weight according to your completion/age/height. Take life easier, being 19 you still have a lot to learn, so enjoy life and take it one step at a time.

Hope you get well.

well the 57 pounds is because I was overweight, but now I do eat right and exercise on a fairly regular basis and i'm not all that far from my goal weight.

The problem disappeared, and I treated my throat with some home remedies and that went away after one day. Right now I seem to have a cold.

I still don't know what it is that makes my hands get so tense and swollen when i'm shoveling, but I do think the blotches and tightness had something to do with blood flow since it was just those 3 days where I hadn't been doing much at all.

And on top of it I hadn't been getting much sleep, so I think my whole system was thrown off. That used to happen to me quite often, so I just need to force myself to not get into the bad habit of not sleeping.

The medical insurance I used to have was public aid because my mom is a single mother, but once I turned 19 I was no longer eligible. I'm going to find out if there's anything else, but I don't think there is. I'm just going to have to find a job with coverage.

Thank you all for the advice. I feel alright, but if this problem comes up again I definitely will go to the er. I'm not really comfortable going on my own, and my mom's out of town anyways. Plus, I know for a fact they wouldn't do anything now that the problem is gone. Trust me, i've seen what the er and even urgent care does, and they're worthless unless your arm is falling off.

But again thank you all!
