Hey everyone, I am 36 weeks pregnant. My last appointment a week ago I was 2 cm dialted and -2. My doctor told me that my cervix was ripe.
Last night when I went to the bathroom there was pinkish blood on the tissue and a very small clot in the toliet. My stomach was very hard and I felt very mild cramping.

This morning I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was more blood but this time it was more red.

Lately every time I wake up during the night my stomach is rock hard but I haven't had the cramping. I called my doctor's office and she is out of town. I have an appointment tomorrow at 4:15 and the nurse told me to take it easy until then....

Can anyone relate or give me some advice...I am a little freaked out!

Thanks

I wouldn't mess around if I were bleeding red blood, hon. If your doctor isn't in, i'd head into the hospital anyway. Get checked out and make sure everything is okay. If it is, fine. If it's not, you could be saving your baby's life. Good luck and let us know how everything turns out.

The person I spoke to at the office said to take it easy and don't lift anything. She said if the bleeding continues to call immediately. It hasn't happened any more.

It's funny how you think you're so ready and then when it gets to the point where it's close it's really scary!

Thank you guys, i'll keep you posted!

This sounds like it is your cervix changing and your mucous plug coming out. Sometimes when your cervix is dilating, it can bleed a bit. The clotting stuff you are seeing sounds mocous plug-gish. ;)

getting close! Get as much rest as you can!

Hey guys. Went to the doctor today. I have not dialted anymore. They said that they don't worry about bleeding this late in pregnancy if it is just when you wipe (it's very common). She said it sounds like I was trying to have a "show" and that it sounds like I am trying to go into labor. She said only to worry if I was soaking a pad in ten minutes and then reminded me how close and often contractions have to be to go the hospital.

Well my parents got a little excited and don't want to miss a thing so they flew in today! Now hopefully she doesn't wait for three weeks to be born!

Thanks for all your advice and best wishes.

Ps you know how all the info on pregnancy says not to hesitate to call with questions that no doctor would make you feel shameful/stupid...Well the male doctor on call last didn't help/ease feelings..All he said was "i don't know what your feeling" and if you're worried go to the hospital...So much for that theory!

Well I am glad that everything is okay.

Just remember, if you ever have any questions (and your doctor isn't much help) then go to the hospital. The hospital and the lamaze (who was a nurse for over 20 years), said if you ever have any worries go to the hospital to get checked out. They totally support that.

Good luck in the next few weeks.

(ps. A lady I know was told a 3 weeks before her due date that she was 2" too, but she ended up giving birth the day after her due date)
