Hi,
i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on weaning my baby.
This is my first baby so I am not that experienced with weaning :?
The first stage of weaning I found easy but now my baby girl is 8months old and she still prefers to eat purred soft food, I have tired her with lumpy food and today tried her with tiny pasta shells and she just spits them out. Is there anything I can do to help her learn to chew?
I have introduced her to some finger foods, she loves her finger biscuits, I have read on the internet and in books that it is ok for her to eat toast but im too nervous and worried to give her bread as im scared she will bite a big chunk and choke as she cant chew yet....
Please could I have some advice from all the moms out there!!!!
Thanks :d

Don't be in a hurry to wean her to fast.....She's just a little one and her digestive system can only take so much.
Guess the finger biscuits are fine and anything else that's designed for baby's so that they naturally dissolve in their mouths. I'd be very careful with the bread to as my little guy choked on it. :)

Thanks for your reply, just wanted some reasurance that she is doing ok and at the normal stage of weaning, I thought she was just being lazy! Hehe! Bless her!
I will definately avoid bread at the moment and just let her develop at her own pace!
Its just so difficult when its your first baby, as im always wondering ''am I doing things right''?
Thanks again for ur advice :)

I think we all wish we could help our toddlers chew. When my daughter was that age she loved mashed potatoes. Maybe try mixing the small pieces of the pasta in with it. Hope it helps

I'm a first time mama too. Children also learn by imitation. My daughter is the same age and takes great interest in what i'm eating. She's still eating mostly baby food but likes the occasional french fry, frozen bean, and sliced melons if i'm having them with her. Don't worry. As soon as your child is eating adult food you'll say to yourself, "man, I wish she ate baby food. It was so much easier then!" good luck
