Q: Phantom Pregnancy Symptoms?

Long story short, my ex-girlfriend and I had sex. I wore a condom and pulled out before coming. I thought it was pretty safe. However she told me that a few days ago her breasts became more sensitive to touch and her sense of smell became sort of acute. Both symptoms only lasted the one day.

My friend told me that often women who are nervous or stressed about a pregnancy can cause themselves to exhibit these symptoms. Is it true? How worried should I be? I checked the condom after sex for breaks, there were none, and I barely came that time. So i'm confused as to how we might have concieved (although I know the failure statistics for condoms and all of that.)

the question -- knowing that this girl is one to stress, how likely is it that these symptoms are real, given that they occurred for only one day about three days after we had sex?

She wouldn't have pregnancy symptoms 3 days after sex. And pregnancy lasts 9 months - usually your symptoms last longer than 1 day.

Is your girlfriend late for her period? Sounds like she is fantasizing what being pregnant might be like.

I don't think you have much to worry about. But use the knowledge you've gained. Don't have sex until you are ready to face the consequences.

But good on you for wearing a condom!!

Thanks for the quick reply, ingi.

She isn't due for her period for another two weeks, so I can't tell yet. It's been about a week now since we had sex. I agree that I think it's just her mind playing tricks on her, and i'm glad to hear you confirm it.

I suppose we should get a home pregnancy test just to be sure, though.

For the record, when might a pregnant woman exhibit those symptoms and what would they be like? Would the symptoms start and not go away for several days?

She would have those symptoms when she missed her period.

She is not pregnant. Based on what you told me and based on your use of a condom.

Don't bother getting a pregnancy test until after she misses her period. It would be a waste of money. It will only work when she has missed her period.

She isn't pregnant. Just posting so that when some guy in the same situation sees this thread he might have a little hope.

I wouldn't say that she is not pregnant for sure...But I highly doubt it...Very unlikely since the condom didn't break...Tell your gf to calm down because her symptoms of pregnancy are likely due to stress...I think she will have her period on time..If she doesn't wait for like 3 days and buy a pregnancy test...I prefer she buy an early preg test like...First response early pregnancy test..If it said negative then get it out of your minds..
