Q: Diagnosing Skin Irritation using Photographs of the Affected
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 24th, 2006
Can anyone tell me what these bumps might be? I haven’t had sex in over a year, so I don’t think it could be an STD. However I had unprotected sex over a year ago, so I guess anything is possible. I have two bumps between my inner thigh and 2 above my pelvic area. The two on my inner thigh seem to worse due to thighs rubbing together. It’s worth nothing that I’ve been gaining a lot of weight and I’ve notices stretch marks on my stomach and inner thigh also. Maybe it has something to do with that?

The bumps on the inner thigh that you describe and have photographed may be some kind of skin infection, probably an infection of the hair follicle. The bumps above the pelvic are not well document, so I can’t comment on what might be causing them. You can ask for a prescription for a topical cream that contains both antibiotics and corticosteroids, and apply the cream to all bumps. If there is no improvement of the condition in a week, you can go to a dermatologist for assistance.
