Q: Are Symptoms related to Bowel Disorder?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 24th, 2006
Hi, I have IBS (I think) - all standard blood tests are magnificent but I am always tired. I have very soft stools always but they have improved from water like diarhoea (in the last three months), I visit the loo at least 3 times a day. I have had IBS for 2years now and it is chronic not recurrent. Recently though I wake up everday with red sore tired eyes and have a dizzyspell say once a fortnight for the last 6months. Could the latest symptoms be related to my bowel disorder? ps I am going for a colonoscopy soon

It doesn't seem likely that fatigue is caused by IBS. Both conditions, however, could be connected (caused) by a common reason, probably depression. I recommend you request an HIV (AIDS) test and the colonoscopy that you’ve already scheduled. If everything is OK, you can ask for help from a mental health doctor or specialist to overcome fatigue and cope with depression.
