Q: Pain Level of Circumcision for a 19 year old
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 23rd, 2006
I'm now considering getting a circumcision because I have a very long and tight foreskin that has caused me many problems in the past such as balantis, phimosis, paraphimosis, erectile dysfunction and painful erections. I have a lot of excess foreskin and I have a hard time pulling it back during an erection, but not so much when its not erect but it still hurts when I do. I tried stretching the foreskin manually, but it doesn't help at all. I think it's actually making things worse for me. My foreskin is hurting a lot even as I type this. Feel as if its strangling the head of my penis. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the pain level of a circumcision? I'm a little worried about the pain cause I don't know what its going to feel like, but not very much cause I know there's gonna be pain involved. Thanks to all those that reply. I appreciate the help.

In your case, circumcision can be performed under total anesthesia so you won’t feel any pain. Circumcision with local anesthesia only is done only in cases of religious circumcisions. You can consult a urologist for more details and to medically confirm the necessity of such a procedure.
