Ok I have been on seasonale for about 3 almost 4 weeks now (this is my first time on birth control) I had posted a bulletin a few days ago about spotting and even bleeding every time me and my boyfriend would have sex it was everywhere and all over the condom... Well now the bleeding has stopped and now every once in awhile it's this nasty brown is that normal? And they say take your pill within a 24 hour period of each other and I take my every night at 10:30 that's exactely 24 hours should I take it a few minutes before like 10:25 or 10:28?????? And who uses a condom here while on birth control because I do...

Ok, well from what I have heard, spotting while on seasonale is normal. Especially if this is your first time on the pill. When I started the pill, I spotted the whole first month. The second month was fine. So don't worry it is completely normal....

It is good that you are using a condom because the spotting is a sign of ovulation so yeah....Make sure you have a back up. And most of my friends all use condoms (even though they are on the pill) for a back up. I personally don't.....But it would probably be a good idea.

No the spotting is not a sign of ovulation!!!!

I work in womens health, and I am degreed as such..

Almost all women will spot their first month on birth control, many women on seasonale will spot for the first 2-3 months on that pill.

Spotting when you first start birth control is normal! The first 2-3 months are a little hectic with spotting, but after 3 months it ususally calms down.

Carifairy - then why do they tell you to make sure you use a backup if there is spotting?

Nowhere I have worked, and nowhere on any pill package does it say to use back-up methods if you spot.

If you take antibiotics you will spot, and you need a backup method, but this is because the hormone levels are dropping due to antibiotics.

You spot when you first take the pill because your body is quickly changing to a new pattern

i do not know what their policies are in vancouver/canada, but i/we have never told anyone to use back-up when spotting.
