Q: Black Eyes From a Nose Fracture Still Lingering

Ok heres the deal...I got in to a fist fight at a bar 7 weeks ago. I got jumped by about 5 guys and got punched in my left eye and nose. Catscan later that night showed my nose was fractured. I had a swollen black eye on my left eye like 30 minutes after the fight but my right eye was fine. Then the next day my right eye blackened too because of the nose fracture. My left eye was also very bloodshot from the punch..

About two weeks later the redness in my left eye was completely cleared and the purple/blueish swelling on the eye was gone.

But!!

Its been 7 weeks and there it is still dark under my left eye...It still looks like a minor black eye, and is still noticable. When the hell is this thing gonna go away?? Why is it taking so long...I've been doing everything I have read to do. Take vitamin c, vitamin e....Im using eye cream, taking a homeopathic supplement that helps black eye healing called ledum. But its still dark and just lingering.

P.S. - I am also a boxer and have had black eyes before but never lasted this long. I am assuming it is lingering longer due to the nose fracture? Any help is appreciated.

Right, I will try and answer your question.

Okay, you are right, yes bruises from a fracture defintely last alot longer than normal bruises.

You have to give your body time to heal, the nose is such a small and sensitive bone, anything hits that, the brusing will take longer to heal. Because it is a bone. Not just flesh.

Also, you said you took vitamins, and applied cream. You cant just apply cream and take vitamins for a week and expect it to work! These things can take months! For example I have to take iron tablets, ive been taking them 3 months and my hymeglobin(iron count) has only just gone up the tinyest bit.

These things take time. My advice is, take your vitamins alot longer. Continuously. Give your body time to heal. Its called a fracture for a reason hun. And try and stay out of the boxing ring for a while, dont want that bruise there longer do you.

Thank you for the reply!! That is what I suspected since this is the first time I fractured my nose...I've had black eyes where only the eye itself was affected and that went away in a week or so. What you said now makes perfect sense that when it is accompanied with a fracture it will take longer to heal.

I will just have to be patient, I guess all the eye cream in the world can't make up for time. And I am not stepping anywhere near the boxing ring til im fully healed. Appreciate your response.
