Initially it was a small (about 1/8") sore like thing on the rim of my right ear. Penetration 2 mm. I had it removed locally by a dermatologist who had it biopsied. It was melonoma. That was late November 2006. January 4th 2007 wide excision and sentinel lymph node removal at Mayo Clinic and pronounced cancer free. One year later January 2008 back at Mayo for removal of melonoma under right ear down to base of neck-loss of right parotid gland and some salivary glands. Diagnosed by needle biopsy of large lump below right ear locally. May 2008 back at Mayo for removal of melanomas from left lung. That was picked up initially by PET scan during the January 2008 visit as a small (1/2 cm node) that didn't "light up". May 2008 PET scan node had grown to 1 1/2 cm. - still not "lighting up". Biopsy determined that it was melanoma. Surgically removed May 28, 2008.
