Q: How Much $ Do Hospital Bills Run?

Just wondering how much $ it is to have a baby at a hospital in the u.S.! I am very new at this lol! I've heard that even with good insurance, it will cost about $5,000. My family doesn't know because we haven't had any new babies in the past 12 years (except my sis, but she works in a children's hospital and she was fully covered). Any input would certainly help! I have to keep holding my hubby back from ordering more palm trees (his addiction) so we can keep tons of money in savings for hospital bills! I'm so worried! Lol

If I remember correctly, it cost ~$2500-$2800 before insurance to have my son with an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. I have a $250 deductable with a 90/10 split and I don't think I even paid $500 in total after insurance. You should be able to go online to your insurace carrier and pull up an estimated cost of procedure. This will tell you approx. How much a particular procedure will cost in your area. This time i'm looking at ~$550-$650 out of pocket to have my daughter (better hospital). Hth

My hospital bill (from 7 years ago) ran close to 12,000 without insurance for an uncomplicated pregnancy/delivery.

If you contact your insurance company, they will gladly tell you what you need to know as for average cost of uncomplicated delivery/etc.
