Please I Need Someone's Help. Don't Know What to Do Posted: 07-16-06 23:57pm
Hi I am about to finish college and am
currently about to turn 22. A little over
a year ago while working out at the gym
one morning, I became suddenly nauseaus,
light headed, and broke into a cold sweat.
Many weeks went by and my symptoms were
not improving. I began to vomit just
about every day. Lost a ton of weight
because I could not hold anything down. I
noticed that whenever I layed down, or
upon waking up in the morning, that is
when I felt the worse. Nausea would
increase by alot at these times. It would
also be bad whenever I would even just
bend over to pick something up. For some
reason, I have also been experiencing
heavy fatigue. Almost a drug like feeling
of being tired all the time. I have
honestly been to the hospital/doctor over
60 times from a year ago when I first
became ill, all the way until now. At
this time I have even been experiencing
shortness of breath which I have never had
in my life until now! Its liek I have
difficulty breathing sometimes. Feels
like something is in the way or stopping
me from beathing in. And I do not have
asthma! All of my symptoms get worse when
I do any type of physical activity. It is
very weird, because I have always watched
what I ate and got plenty of excercise
since I was a personal trainer prior to
getting sick. I can't deal with this
anymore it is too much. I am in pain
every single day. The doctors have tested
me for everything! When I say everything,
go ahead and ask me about a certain test,
and I bet I have had it done. Through all
of my tests, I started seeing a g.I.
Doctor. I told them 50 million times that
whatever the problem is that it is coming
from my upper stomach. My chest would
even hurt randomly throughout the day.
But I knew that it was all stemming from
my upper stomach. Even food would hurt
sometimes trying to swallow it down. I
have never in my life had any of these
symptoms until now. So anyways, the
doctor ordered an endoscopy test to be
done. It was there that he found a hiatus
hernia in my upper stomach. But his
inital response was, "you have a hiatus
hernia, but it's not a problem. Lot's of
people have them and its not causing your
symptoms." after this, I did some research
on the internet, and started to treat
myself by putting blocks under my bed, I
stopped eating 3 hours before I went to
bed, and I tried to keep my posture
straight so that my stomach would not bend
or crunch in. This actually seemed to
help somewhat! I felt more better than I
have when I wasn't doing this. But it is
still very bad! It hurts, and it is very
uncomfortable. I hate it. I went back to
see the same doctor that ordered this test
and he sugessted that I see someone else
because he didnt know what to tell me. So
I saw 3 more g.I. Doctors! Finally one
of them suggessted that I see a surgeon.
Oh by the way, they had all been putting
me on different meds throughout all of
this. Proton pump inhibitors, nausea
medicine. And none of it worked! So
finally, the surgeon says that he wont
even see me unless I have some esophageal
monometry test done. I go in for the
monometry and I couldnt do it. It was too
painful for me. A tube going through my
nose and into my stomach?? While i'm
fully awake. I gagged too much and it
hurt going in my nose. So the g.I.
Doctor sent me home and just said, "good
luck." this was about a month ago. I feel
like I am going crazy because I really
think I need this surgery to fix this
thing. Nothing else has been working no
matter what I do. And it has been going
on for well over a year now! My physician
said that he will try and contact other
surgeons tomorrow at the hospital to see
if someone will be willing to see me. I
dont understand this. Seems as if someone
goes in and says they want breast
implants, for the right price, you can
have a surgery whenever you want for it.
But for me, i'm in pain and discomfort
every day and I can't get help for it at
all. I have been monitoring my body for a
long time now and know for a fact that
this hiatus hernia is the cause of my
problems. Its as if I can feel it in my
stomach. Weird. But the doctors treat me
as if they dont even care. A hernia was
definitely found and diagnosed, and now
that I say, "hey guys, these are my
symptoms. It's all coming from my upper
stomach near my chest almost. It's
bothering me." they say, "we don't know
what to tell you. A hiatus hernia isn't
causing your problems." I just want to get
it fixed because I know that it is causing
my problems. I go to the hospital just
about every day just praying that someone
will say something different, but at this
point it is out of my hands because I need
to have this surgery but I need to meet
with a surgeon that would even agree to do
it first. Please, I know this is long but
please can someone help me?? Doe s anyone
know anything about what I should do.
I've done all I can and nothing has
worked, no more medicines, or hey try
doing this. Its not working. I really
think I need to have surgery. Please
someone help me.
