Q: Bartholin Gland Cyst

I recently developed a lump outside my vagina, it is very, very sore. When I was looking up info I found out about the bartholing gland, but it said it is a red lump and mine is a very dark red or black in color. Could it still be a bartholin gland cyst? Any info would be wonderful.
