Plan b does not really work after ovulation, it's main action is to prevent ovulation, and that is why women will get pregnant even if they use plan b.

Have you considered taking an early pregnancy test at all? Pp could give you an early blood pregnancy test.

A little confused here, I thought plan b also prevented fertilisation and implantation. (which is why I was unsure if I wanted to take it) does it matter how long after ovulation I took it. I'm almost positive (and doc agrees) that I ovulated around 10 am and didn't take the first plan b pill until around 11pm. Any more info you have would be great thanks. I'll probably test either way mon or tues no point in wasting a test this early.

In r clinical trials they have found that the primary action of plan b is to stop ovulation. Just like our bodies naturally raise progestin levels after we ovulate, these two pills do the same.. It tricks your body into thinking it ovulated.

But the study also shows the 'possibility' of preventing implantation, but this is not considered a primary action like many people may think. It also conisdered rarer for the plan b to act on implantation, but because it 'could' do this, it must be mentioned.




I have an iud, it prevents implantation...That is one of the primary actions, which I am okay with because I am pro choice.

Thank you for the info I knew there was less of a cance of it working on implantation but not to the extent you are talking. I realise that you can't say for sure but what do you think the chances are i'm pregnant and since it's the weekend and I don't want to bother my doc when should I take a pregnancy test? Are you a nurse I can't remember?

For someone who is pro-life, there are certian things I know that I should avoid when giving advice..


There is a chance you could be pregnant, and there is also a chance that your ovulation could have been miscalculated..There is always hope..


You can take a pregnancy test 5 days before a period is due..It has t be one that specifically says early though :)
