Still Worried
Posted: 07-01-06 18:23pm

Well I did post a few days ago but I am still worried a bit.

I was told by my ex who I have not seen in two years that he has hiv and I gave it to him so I went to the doctors and had a test done thursday and will get the results monday and my doctor told me that she doubts I have it because it would of shown up when I was pregnant with my son and got tested.

My ex boyfriend is in the military and was tested for both boot camp and the military and that boot camp was 9 months after we split and my doctor says if hiv does not show up within 6 months of exposure you most likely do not have it.

I am just trying to stay calm and everyone keeps telling me everything will be fine and I do not have it and I am thinking the same because no way did they miss hiv when I was pregnant, when he entered boot camp and when he entered the military.

This is copied off a site I found...

"there is a "window period" which is the time it takes the body to produce antibodies after hiv infection has begun. For the vast majority of those who will test positive, antibodies to hiv will develop within 4-6 weeks after exposure. Some will take a little longer to develop antibodies. To make certain that you receive a reliable test result, it's necessary to wait at least three months (13 weeks) after your last possible exposure to the virus before being tested.

Getting tested before three months may result in an unclear result or a false negative. Some testing centers may recommend testing again at six months. It's extremely rare for seroconversion to take more than six months to develop detectable antibodies."

seeing as your ex boyfriend was tested twice after 6 months of you two spitting and you had no sexual intercourse after the split and both test hiv did not show up I would say that you do not have it and he most likely did not have it when he entered boot camp or the military.

Relax and do not worry yourself. You are going to get all worked up and then monday your going to be told you do not have it and kick yourself for thinking you did. Just relax and try not to think about it.

I remember when I thought I had hiv and it took like a week to find out and when I found out I did not have it I just wanted to slap myself for worrying so much even after my doctor told me she really doubted I had it.
