Q: Headache not Relieved for 14 Months
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 30th, 2006
Hi,

for about 14 months i have been having 1 big headache. It has never disappeared, not once in those 14 months. It feels like a throbbing/pulsating in my head to the rhythm of my heartbeat. I have had a dozen tests including head/soft neck tissue MRI head CT, all of which have come back negative. My doctors say it's anxiety, however, i am still convinced that there is something else wrong.

What else could it be?

I recommend you check your vision (eye examination). Refractory anomalies are common for your age and one of their manifestations, besides disturbed vision, are headaches. An eye examination can provide information about possible causes for your symptoms. If everything is ok, however, you can consult a psychiatrist or another mental health professional to explore possible psycho-somatic causes of these symptoms.
