Hello all,

can anyone shed some light on this problem. I lose my voice for no apparent reason for periods of maybe four weeks. This has happened a few times over the past twenty years or so. This first happened some years ago when I was in my late thirties. My voice just rapidly reduces to a whisper. It maybe compared to a viral attack of the ear/nose/throat area (like a cold or cough) but without any illness. I also feel quite lethargic during these periods.
I've been to doctors who've then sent me for tests and gave me antibiotics because they were bewildered. Then i've been analysed to see if it's stress-related. I,ve been psycho-analysed to see if it's a mental/emotional condition - but to no avail. I feel fine and i'm coping with life spelndidly. At the moment, however, I can only whisper. This is inconvenient socially, mixing with friends, using the phone, shopping, making enquiries etc..

Has anyone else had this sort of problem. What is it? What can I do about it? Is there a drug I can purchase. I really don't want to go through this again.
