Hi everybody! I'm new to this sight, but have had lupus for a few years now. I have lots of unanswered questions, but to start with, does anybody know why you shouldn't take melatonin if you have lupus?

Well, I have severe insomnia. My doc was prescribing ambien on a regular basis for me. I moved to a different state, and the doc here isn't going for it. So, i'm on my own. I've been researching melatonin, and so far it has not recomended melatonin if you have lupus. I can't find out why, and was hoping somebody had heard something. Possibly melatonin affects the auto immune system, in a bad way? Just wondering. While i'm here I also had another question. My husband swears by zinc lozenges when he gets sick. Well everytime I try to take one it burns my mouth up, I mean unbarebly so. He thinks i'm crazy. Has anybody else had a bad reaction to zinc?

Thankyou for the welcome! Mari k.
