Q: Side Effect From Depo?

I started taking depo about 2 months ago and ever since then, its seems like my mood has changed. Everytime my boyfriend tries to initiate sex, I never want to. And before getting the shot, that never really was a problem. Is there anything naturally that I can take that would boost my mood? I read somewhere on the internet that ginseng and dhea supplements might help.

As far as ginseng goes there is no concrete evidence supporting the idea that it will increase sex drive and also there is no quality control so you really dont know what you are getting. Ginseng is "known" as a cure-all so it may help some with sex but may help others with something else. Dhea has a better outlook. Although it is most promising in the anti-aging department there have been studies where it increased sexual excitement in post menopausal women so out of the 2 this is ur best bet. But personally my advice would be to just get off depo. I was on it for 6 months and although it is very convenient all the side effects arent worth it. I mean I had weight gain, depression, constant period, and absolutely no sex drive. And the longer you use it the worse these things got. With each person it is different but I have yet to meet someone who is truly content on depo. I have heard nuva ring is a really good option.
