Better Mesh=better Hernia Repair
Murphdog,
i wonder if pain is due to old technology, that is mesh that the body attacks, mesh that does not lay well and scars. All those facters lead to pain, infecton, redos, and other complications. Do you know if they used the polyeurothane (plastic) mesh? There is a new mesh made out of titanium that is striong and has no ill effect.

Hi, I have had two hernia op's, both without mesh but am on my third hernia now and the surgeon suggested that this time I would have to get mesh implants.
I read up on this method because I really don't want another op and then really not something in my body that isn't part of it, also I heard of complications connected with the mesh years ago.
Apparently the newer mesh they use is quite well tolerated by the body in individuals that don't have an allergy against plastic, if you have that it can be that the body rejects the material.
The other thing I found was that apparently the mesh can interfere with nervends because it covers such a large area within the body which can lead to pain.
So what you are experiencing might be due to that, but I have no knowledge about whether this goes away or what you would have to do to help this. You probably are best consulting with a doctor who has had experience with hernias and mesh implants.

More Pain After Hernia Surgery Than Before
Crying or Very sad Mad Confused
i have had 7 hernia surgeries in past year and a half my very first one my doctor used mesh and i ended up being allergic to it and he had to remove it. So after 5 more surgeries and being cut from hip to hip and down the whole center of my stomach and then getting another hernia 2 weeks after that my doctor sent me to another surgeon. i told this new surgeon that i was allergic to the mesh but he still felt neccessary to use it. Now 4 months later i amhaving the most horrific pain in my stomach and i think my body is rejecting the mesh. the doctor told me that this is not possible, but i know that is whats wrong.but i'm not sure and i cant stand the pain anymore. what is wrong with me. I need help getting some answers. can someone please help
