Q: What can Cause an Irritated Urethra?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 29th, 2006
my urethra is raw...it burns sometimes when i pee, but mainly ater i urinate. it feels like i can not get it all out. i have no leakage or drips that i can notice other than the last few drops of urine, also ive only been with one girl, and im her only partner as well, and we wear a condom everytime. i had my urine sampled and there were no signs of bacteria or stds. I live in a dorm witha community bathroom if that could possibly have caused something, also 2 days before the situation, i applied tinactin athletes foot cream to a jock itch, and i dont know if it could have somehow gotten into my urethra and caused the irritation. my doc wants to give me a probe test but it seems unncecesarry because of my sexual past. i shower daily, and i take all the health precautions sexually. also, i cover the toilet seat when i use it, but please tell me if you got any insight to my problem..

P.S. i have no back pain or any symptoms of kidney, blatter problems including kidney stones... also idk could it be a prostate problem at my age? I have a lot of sex, but i am safe when i do it, and i have never had any complications. ive had the same amount of sex monthly for about the past year, by that i mean i havent increased in the amount i have. Im stumped...and im not some dumb kid, im in college in pre med, with a good gpa? ive never had a problem like this before. thank you

It seems likely that you have an urethral inflammation (urethritis) that was probably NOT caused by infection because the urine analyses were negative. You scan return and take the urethral probe test that your doctor suggested. Perhaps you are experiencing an allergic reaction to the ream you’ve used or from the oil on a condom. Mechanical irritation during sex can also cause such problems. It seems that there is nothing serious to be worried about. The condition will probably pass spontaneously.
