I am currently on birth control and have been for several years and I was wondering if hydroxycut (the diet pill) makes birth control pills stop working sort of how antibiotics do, or if it really has no effect at all?

Thanks.

Hi. I don't know what hydroxicut is, but when I used to take ephedrine, which is essentially speed, my birth control still worked great for me. Meaning, I didn't have spotting and I didn't get pregnant w/my boyfriend. However speed birth control is probably very bad for your heart.

Thanks for responding :)

i took trimspa once while I was on birth control and the birth control continued to work, so hopefully it will be the same for hydroxycut, I was just wondering if it depended on which diet pill one used

There are herbs, some of which can be in diet pills, which decrease the effectiveness of brith control pills.

Saint johns wort is one.

Diet pills are horrible for you anyways, they themselves can add to the blood clot and high bloos pressure risk of birth control.

I take diet smart by equate. Its ephedra free and has 32 mg of egcg. It works as a multi-vitamin and diet pill with no st. John's wart, the only issue with it is it has caffiene in it, which I know isnt something you should take a lot of whil youre on b.C.. But its a siggestion if you just have to take some kindve diet pill. This can usually be found at wal-mart.

I've been on Alesse for years and recently started taking smart burn (month and a half ago). I've been experiencing some spotting the last week or so. Not sure if one has to do with the other but if anyone else has this problem, plz let me know. Thanx!
