Q: Can I have a Baby after a Hysterectomy? What about IVF?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 28th, 2006
I was just wondering, if there is any possible way to have a baby after a hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries, they took out my uteris and cervic due to hpv. Now I'm married to a man that dont have no kids, and want to have kids. he dont want to adopt. So i was thinking since i still produce eggs, would there be a chance of a way that him and i can have a chid..
Would they be able to take one of my eggs and his sperm and someone else carries it for us, My sister is willing to do that, if it's possible...
can u pleaselet me know if there is a way.. thanks

A woman can’t get pregnant after a hysterectomy because the uterus has been removed. You can genetically reproduce a child with your husband if you still have fertile egg cells and your husband has fertile spermatozoids. And of course, your sister should be able to carry the fetus. There is no guarantee that this will be successful, but you can seek help at a clinic that specializes in in vitro fertilization.
