Hey all

i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or not... I went for my 20 week ultrasound at 21 weeks found out im having a boy!!! Yay lol its what I wished for allthough either sex would of been fine as long as the baby is healthy dosent matter to me... They said my uterus was measuring 21 weeks I am due oct 30th but he was only measuring just over 18 weeks... It kind of scared me at the time because I wasnt sure what it meant or if it meant I wasnt eating enough or what ..But I eat plenty!!!!!!! I went threw a lil emotional issue because it scared me I was just wondering if any one else has experienced this and what the problem was.. I am 17 years old and I am now 23 weeks pregnant as of today:d yay

All babies grow at their own rate. Ultrasound is not always reliable on measuring and dating a pregnancy. There is a margin of error there.

For instance, my best friend was supposed to have a baby that was almost 10 lbs - that is what the ultrasound said. But her baby wasn't even 8 lbs. That is a big difference in a newborn!

Talk to your doctor about it. If he isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either!

;) this is not a complication. It sounds scary though when someone says your baby is smaller than he should be.

Talk to your doctor about it.

If you were concerned about it at the time, did you ask the doctor what he thought about the size of the baby measuring 2 weeks behind? At my first u/s my baby measured 2 weeks further along and they changed my due date by 2 weeks. I asked why they changed the due date because of the date of my last lmp and they said that they base the due date on the size of the baby. There wasn't any room for concern. My cousin's baby measured 2 weeks less than what they thought based on her lmp and they changed her date accordingly. They never showed concern either way. But if you were concerned you should have asked at the time.....Dont' be afraid to ask the doctor questions because if you dont' ask you won't ever really know for sure if it's a problem until it becomes one.

Rule of thumb: always ask or call your doctor....If you are worried about it now why wait until july 14th? Just place a ring to the office and ask them questions that is what they are there for.

I had the same problem... It weird tho cause my tummy didnt measure small... But at 31 weeks when I also found out I was having a boy and not a girl...Lol I was told that my baby was measuring up small... His estimated wheight was 3 pounds 7 oz. At 31 weeks. Then when I finally had him he was a healthy 8 pounds 9 oz. So I wouldnt stress yourself cause then your stressing your baby. Im sure if the doctors arent concerned you shouldn't be either... Hope all continues well !!!

Hey the reason that I am waiting until july 14th is because that is my next appointment and I have already talked to the dr about it and he said it wasnt a concern to him I was just wondering if any one else has ever heard of this or had this problem

Ya I dont think that ultrasounds are completely right like I mean for the gender of the baby they are great .. But I dont know some people have been told that their baby weighs more than supposed to and then when they are born they dont.. I was just wondering why mine might of been smaller

I hate to be a stickler for details but if you're due on october 30th you won't be 23 weeks until monday. As of today you're 22 weeks 2 days.

i'm due october 31st and i'm 22 weeks 2 days today (i know how to count and in case you don't go check the tickers in the due date countdown sticky). That makes you 22 weeks 3 days. On monday you'll be 23 weeks.
