Pregnancy Complications Answer A1161
It seems to experience a miscarriage and carry a dead fetus in the womb. If a dead fetus is not expelled from the uterus, the condition is called a "missed abortion". Reasons that the body fails to expel a dead fetus are unknown. Symptoms of a missed abortion are weak vaginal bleeding (that may also be absent), decrease in the size of the uterus, absence of subjective signs of pregnancy (nausea, vomiting, tender breasts etc.) and negative pregnancy tests after 1-2 weeks. An ultrasound check might be repeated one week after the symptoms of a missed abortion. If there is no heartbeat registered at that time, then the fetus has passed away and must be expelled artificially because it is a potential threat for the mother’s health.
