I'm new on here so I wasnt exactly sure where to put this.

I recently went on the pill. And this is my first period whilst on the pill (my first cycle of "sugar tablets") before I went on the pill, I thought I may have been pregnant (although I hadnt had unprotected sex), but 2 pregnancy tests have told me otherwise.

For the first day of my period I had extremely bad stabbing pain in my abdomen - it was unusual and not like the period pain I have experienced before I was on the pill. This went for about 4-5 hours but I was unable to get to a doctor (and I wont be able to get to one until tomorrow)

when I went to the bathroom, I noticed something unusual in my period. It was a balloon sized and shaped thing. It was sort of fleshy but it was unlike blood clots or anything I have experienced before. It came out in one peice and I am very worried as to what it is. After this came out the pain was gone.

Has anyone experienced this? Or have any idea what this is?

I've just done some research about first trimester miscarriages. Is it possible I was pregnant without knowing it and then miscarriaged?

What was the shape?Did it look like a little bean or anything? If you were pregnant, how far along do you think you were? It could have been.If you thought you were pregnant and the test showed that you were, you should have waited to take the bc,as that can cause a mc.

It sounds like a blood clot to me. If you took 2 pregnancy tests and they were negative, and you hadn't had unprotected sex, and you had a period before you started your birth control pills - you more than likely were not pregnant.

How old are you? Have you ever had blood clots before? Are you bleeding excessively (more than 1 pad or tampon per hour for more than 2 hours?)? Those would be reasons to go see a doctor.

I hate to say this because this is an 'open forum' for anyone to read, but I have fibroid tumors (completely benign!) and I bleed clots the size of large oranges or fist sized. When I talked to the doctor about this - many times - he says it is fine and despite the fact that it scares the he11 out of me, i'll survive.

Good luck. If you are afraid, or nervous it could have been a miscarriage, go see your doctor. Do not stop taking your birth control pills unless he tells you to!

Thank you so much guys, i'm off to the doctors in a few hours so he will hopefully tell me what went on.

The shape was exactly like a deflated balloon - it sounds so odd that why I though it was a miscarriage, the "sac" or something like that

previous to going on the pill I did have extremely heavy (having to change a "regular" pad every two hours) and painful periods (im 18) and that was one of the reasons for going on the pill. I used to have blood clots, but they were always small and looked like clumps of blood, whereas this looked different - hence why I got so worried :(. I was 100% sure that I wasnt pregnant (although they were home pregnancy tests) before going on the pill - and I did have a period (although it was late) but since this has happened you know how your mind does crazy things!

Thanks so much - i'll let you know what the doctor says!

Thanks ingi!

I'm back from the doctor and he said it sounded like a miscarriage - although it could have been my uterus getting rid of the entire lining in one go as a reaction to the pill (and it was period time) which he thought was a bit strange but lots of strange reactions happen to people on the pill

hes done a blood test to be sure if it was on not- its gone in as "urgent" so i'll have the results back by tomorrow

*waits patiently*

I have just gotten back from the doctors and I am not pregnant, which means it cant have been a miscarriage. I feel so relieved but then again I feel so horrible for anyone who has ever had a miscarriage

thank you guys for keeping me sane for the past three days :)
