Q: What to Do If Hypoglycemic And An Illness Occurs

This has been bugging me and i've seen the problem arise in different people's posts. We need to work on ideas for what to do with illnesses. One day, being curious because my wife came down with what I think was the flu for about a week, I looked at various medicines. To my horror I found all of them had either sugar or artificial sweetener. I could deal with having to take something with artificial colorings in it, but sweetener? We need even our medicines to taste good? What is to be done?!!! The most likely idea would be to replace medicine with herbs, but even some "natural" cures in liquid form or whatever actually have sugar too! We need to work on a list of illnesses that could happen and what to take for them, even if it's a meal or something that seems to help. This would be of great benefit to everyone here I think.

Hi,

i know what you mean....So many medications have sugar, etc. I find if I stay away from high carbs (sugar, starches, junk food) I get sick much less often and when I do, I don't get as sick, which is a real bonus! There are many remedies that don't involve otc drugs or prescriptions. I don't even take aspirin if I don't really have to and try to stay away from medication and use the herbal or natural cures.

What scares me is having a stomach flu that doesn't allow me to eat and keep my blood sugar up. I've had only a few bouts and I would eat yogurt a few teaspoons at a time or chicken soup that I recommented to tygrbabi.

I'll be interest to hear recommendations from others.
