Neuropathy

My son was diagnosed with neuropathy in both feet after being issued boots two sizes too small in the army. After wearing them for 7 months they finally realized their mistake and he has since been discharged. Now the nerve damage is traveling up his legs. The va has done blood work, mri's , ncs, cat scans etc. They are now telling him it could enter the central nervous system and are giving him 6-9 months to live....Has anyone else heard of such a thing happening from neuropathy?
