I am a 36 year old female that has been taking zoloft for a year, my insurance always paid for my medication, however I have recently lost my job, and I have ran out of medication, I dont have the money to purchase my zoloft, and I was wondering I know that you are not suppose to take other peoples medications, but my sister gave me some wellbutrin, does anyone know if I took this if it would cause me anyproblems. Zoloft is something you just cant stop taking, if I take the wellbutron just until I get the money for my zoloft does anyone know if there could be any problems. Any info would be greatly appericated.

Different people need different doses - and I would be leary of taking someone else's. Zoloft is a pretty intense medication. Do you have enough money to go to the dr at least?? There are several anti-depressants out there in generic form now - so that means much cheaper.

I currently just had the same problem...I was on effexor xr and my insurance stopped covering it so I had to switch to zoloft. Your doctor could switch you to a diff type of anti-depressant (generic) you should just be able to call him on the phone and explain situation. Maybe he will have samples (not sure about that) that he can give you also. I wouldn't suggest taking the wellbutrin because when you start or stop taking any type of anti depressant you have to slowly start or come off of it. Even if the mg are the same dont do it. I was taking 150mg of effexor, but zoloft is stronger so I only have to take 100mg of zoloft. As the same case wellbutrin may be stronger than zoloft. Its scary to mix drugs like that. Especially since they can cause seizures. You never know..You could be driving and have one.

You cannot just stop taking zoloft and start taking wellbutrin without consulting a doctor. You could have serious awful side effects. If nothing else go to your doctor and they can give you enough samples of zoloft to slowly get yourself off of it.

You are putting yourself at a risk for seizures by cutting out a sedative like Zoloft cold-turkey and starting on Wellbutrin. I am currently prescribed both, but my Dr. is trying to wean me off the Zoloft slowly.
