Hello all, im writing this to get others opinions on the information available through the internet on molluscum. Ive been doing alot of research on this disease and I am comming up with very contradictory information.
First I will start off with my story:
in june 2005 I had a drunken one night stand with a friend of mine due to a recently broken heart. 2 months later I meet a new girl and we started a casual sexual relationship which lasted about a month. In december 2005 I met up again with the new girl and things got a little more serious. Before we started having sex again she told me that she was recently diagnosed with hpv (cervical cancer type). I searched and searched for a place to test me for hpv but could not find one that tests men. A few weeks into my search I recieved a phone call from the girl with which I had my one night stand and she told me that she also has hpv of the same type. I at this point assumed I had to have it (since both of my last partners did) and started to have sex with my current girlfriend. Now that we are six months into our relationship she has just been diagnosed with molluscum. She said she noticed them in may, but thought they could have been shaving bumps. She has just 2 bumps just at the top of her pubic hair. I had no signs of molluscum at all. Aftet doing some research I realized that I had it about 2 years ago. This im pretty sure about. If I did get it sexually back then I got it from a woman who showed no signs (she was completly shaven). Now im a kinda paranoid person cause ive been burned in the past really badly. The first thing I thought was that she cheated on me. I obviosly freaked out. She is insisting that she didnt and I believe her, sorta. Looking back on the relationship im not seeing any signs that she did. And I know that my paranoia can be rather delusional. I can say I most likely have othello syndrome (i start therapy tommorrow). I always have, yet ive never found evidence of her being unfaithfull. According to her when she went to see her gynocologist he said that she could have gotten it anywhere (sharing clothes, non-genital contact, ect) and that it is, in his opinion, way more contagious that currently beleived and it simply likes the genital area cause it likes moisture. Also he said that because I had it in the past im most likely immune. Just a few days ago I noticed one bump just below the top of my pubic hair.
Now depending on where you do your research you can find a variety of things. There is a certain std forum where the doctor who runs it insists that it does not spread by things like towels and that it is a std 100% of the time in adults. Then again there is another forum where I find people who have no idea where they got it as they have either been faithful or have had no sexual contact at all. One peice of info missing is where their molluscum is located. Though a few have stated that is was in fact genital. I must say this is really driving me insane. A few have stated that thier partner had it a long time ago (like me) but no longer did and they are wondering how they got it. Anyone willing to help me find some peice of mind would be absolutly wonderful....................Thanx
