Lower Right Abdominal Pain
Posted: 06-23-06 07:59am

Hello, my name is jennifer and I have a really strange story to tell. For about 3 weks now I have had lower right abdominal pain, clear down between my bellybutton and my pelvis. Sometimes it can be sharp, but it is always there. I am currently taking ultram and it seems to help the pain a little. I also have pain in my right lower back, and sometimes in my groin and down my right leg. My side also hurts between my pelvic bone and my rib cage. I have been to the er about 10 times for this and I had two cat scans done 2 weeks ago, urine tests, blood tests (my last white blood cell count was 5 and he said that was normal) and everything come out normal. My family doc is stumped as well. He thinks it may be anxiety, but I am on anxiety pills and its not getting any better. When I walk it hurts, when I take a hot bath it hurts, it doesn't hurt more or less when I eat or make a bowel movement. I have also recently had a pelvic exam and that was normal. Std tests came back normal. I am 21 years old, and I need to get better and get on with my life. This is so, so, depressing. Please help me. Appendicitis, utis, ovarian cysts, and ectopic pregnancy have all been ruled out (among other things) I am paranoid about my appendix but thats my anxiety talking (lol) my family doc has told me he is 99.5% sure that isn't what it is. So can you please help me? Maybe you can give me some ideas of other tests or other things that may cause this severe pain. Perhaps my colon? Thank you very much. - jennifer :!:

I had something similiar to that at 19. I was hurting in my back and groin. The docs were saying there was nothing wrong with me until I was in the emergency room. Turned out I had scar tissue in my kidneys. Could be something on the lines of that.

Your Pain

Ok did any of this pain happen to get worse after a ct scan? (ct scan contrast can cause some bad side effects, like dvt) does your pain include low grade fever? Do you have any lymph nodes in the groin that are swollen?

Been checked for a pelvic dvt? (deep vein thrombosis)had a d-dimer test to rule out pelvic dvt?... If not do it... Pelvic dvt's can be fatal if not taken care of...Small percentage though...They can turn into a pulmonary embolism

your symptoms sound a lot like mine which i've had for 8 weeks... So doc says its either anxiety or lymphoma... Lol nice either its cancer or your nuts... But I dont know...

I love it when doctors tell you its anxiety when they cant figure caca out... Ok doc..My nuts hurt....Is that anxiety? How's about I kick you in the nuts for 8 weeks and see if you come up with any anxiety...

Most doctors are friggen quacks.... If it has not resolved.... Go get a second opinion...And a d-dimer for sure...

Have you had a transvaginal ultrasound? Been checked for endometriosis? Although.... I did have a normal ct scan and then ended up in surgery anyway because md was 90% sure I had appendicitis regardless of what ct showed. Ha... I did have appendicitis!
