My hunny and I have been using condoms & such, and i'm thinking about going on birth control but am not sure what's a good kind. I was going on the iud but then researched it, they said it lasts 5-10 years but has to be replaced once a year, which I don't like. I was also thinking about seasonal, but then a few people told me they bled non stop for months when they were on it. I'm not planning on having another for a long time either, so I need something that's really good and something that could possibly help my periods. (i get bad period cramps and bleed like a pig being tore apart by a pitt) heh......

Help? =(

No the iud does not have to be replaced once a year!!That was an older iud called progestasert! It had hormones in it.

The 5 year iud stays in for 5 years, hence why it is called a 5 year iud. This one is hormonal and replaced the progestasert one.

Paragard can stay in for 10 years, I have one =) it stays in for 10 years!

I heard the iud wasn't good because it could create scar tissue and prevent you from having babies all together.. Thats what my health teacher told us in the 8th grade, and I also heard it on lifetime lol I dunno

Yeah i'm planning on getting birth control too.. Isnt the iud a needle or is it something differnt? Im planning on getting some kind of pills that wont hurt the baby when I breastfeed... I heard when u breast feed you cant get pregnant but I dont see that being true

Breastfeeding isn't guaranteed as far as preventing pregnancy. But from what i've read, breastfeeding exclusively has an excellent chance of keeping your cycle on hold. Again, not a guaranteed method of birth control, but... *shrug* it's different for every woman.

But what if your allergic to other contraceptives? Can you be allergic to the uid too? Or do you have to just wait and find out till its in your body?
Cheers

You cannot actually be really allergic to pills, you can 'not tolerate them" like me.Allergy imlies an immune system response...

The iud does not cause scar tissue, and is very very safe. Millions of women have them before and after having children, iud's got a bad rap from the dalkon shield.(which was recalled and faulty)

the only way you not tolerate an iud is if you were allergic to copper, because paragard has copper in it.

Hahahalol

one test that is often used by doctors is to tape a copper penny to the forearm of a woman to check, but if you had wilsons disease(severe allergy to copper), I would imagine you would know by now.

Hahaha that's funny

i am clueless on what birth control i'm gonna take. I guess I researched an old site or something, because it said it has to be replaced every year and I was like what!!

The iud sounds like a plan to me, i'll just have to talk to my doctor about it!

See, I haven't been to the doctor since i've had brayden. I skipped my 6 week check up because of this cancerous tissue I got, and didn't feel like dealing with it until later. I have an appt july 15th I think it was and i'm gonna get the check done to make sure everything looks fine, which it should because I havent been having any problems and etc, I gotta talk about the birth control and the cancerous tissue. I hate the doctors so bad, and would rather just not go to be honest.

What do they do at your 6 week check up guys?

Pap smear, check to see if you are healing, and talk about birth control.

Because you have dysplasia though, you might talk about a colposcopy. Which is like a pap with a microscope that the doctor can see your cervix up close with. That appointment would be scheduled at a later time than your '6 week' check up though ;)

an iud does not give you a higher risk of cervical cancer. Hpv gives you a higher risk of cervical cancer.

yeah i've had it done before once. Because my pap smear came up with abnormal cells so he clipped a piece off and tested it which is how I know I have cancerous tissue, a couple months later I got another pap and it came back normal so hopefully it's gone away, otherwise i'll have to get it cut out.

Owieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I hate doctors so much, and it makes me wonder why males would even wanna be obgyn's. =|

yes i'm gonna have more!!! But not anytime soon. Chris and I thought we were ready to have another so soon after brayden but then recently changed our minds. Mainly because I don't want brayden to have a sibling so close in age. I at least want 1 more. Chris and I want to have a baby together because we are getting married soon.

I just hate condoms, it gives me a rash on my legs. I think i'm like allergic to latex or something. It's always been like this. The only birth control i've been on is the patch which helped my cramps and such with my periods, but obviously didn't protect against pregnancy because I had pregnant with brayden on it. They recommend not to use it anymore, so i'm thinking about something more permanent, 5-10 years is good for me. I never planned on having any babies young, but life never turns out how you want it to anyways.

=)
