Hello everyone, I hope your new year brings about new opportunities, good fortune and good health to all and your loved ones. The question that I have is: how does one contract perianal cellulitis (anal strep)? My eight year old daughter has it. I took her to her doctor and she prescribed antibiotics for her. She says that no one has "tampered" with my daughter (thank god). When I asked how could my daughter contract this bacteria, she simply said that it was a virus. Duh. I figured that out, but did it come from bathing, the type of laundry powder or soap we use or from hygiene? Could someone please share any information that they may have on this subject? All information will be much appreciated.

Anal Strep Infection
My daughter has the same thing and gets it rather frequently. She is only 2 1/2. We are concerned about the frequency plus it is very painful. The doctor usually gives us antibiotics for her and different topical agents. Have you found anything out about what causes it more specifically? We were told a virus as well. They always seem baffled when she doesn't have it in her throat as well although a couple of times she has.
