Q: When Do I Test??? Need Some Advice

If I am pregnant, today would be the first half of my 3rd week since I had unprotected sex on the 4th. I have expirienced a couple things that just started happening at different times...

I know i'm not having pms since my period is not supposed to come for a while and my friends suggested maybe i'm too stressed or I have a stomach virus.

-extremely moody (i am constantly furious or crying about everything and I barely ever cry, now it's for everything. It gets so bad that i'm having frequent arguments with friends & family... My mom has even asked why i've been so moody)
-growling stomach more than once a day
-shortness of breath (i can't fit into my usual clothes since sucking in my stomach makes me lightheaded or makes me feel as if i'm not breathing enough)
-my undies are constantly damp (discharge)

it's just so confusing, I just want to find out already. Sometimes I feel as if i'm not because I feel normal and at other times I think I might be because I don't feel myself.

Anyway, the only way people tell me to be sure is obiviously to test so I have a test but I don't want to use it too soon. My next period should be july 5th. I got my period late this month (on the 7th, it was light and ended early on the 9th) so do I have to wait till july 5th or can I take one sooner?

Please get back to me asap
thank you

If you get a "first response" test you can test upto 4 days before your period is due.

It is safer to say (an more accurate) that you can test from the day your period is due.

Assumming you had sex right around ovulation time - that would mean to say test 10 days after sex minimum.

You say your period isn't due for a while yet?
So when was your last period and how long do you normally take from the first day of bleeding of one period until the first day of the next?

Ok. You had sex on june 4. Then had a short period on june 7 - 9. But still think you are pregnant? Thats what i'm getting here, right?

Take a test. More than likely it is going to be negative. In which case, you should run yourself down to planned parenthood to get some birth control so when your period does start you'll be prepared to start your pills.

Emotions are not an effective gauge of pregnancy, since you can be overly emotional if you are anxious about being pregnant, have pms, are an emotional person anyway, or are looking for signs that you could be pregnant.

Hunger also is also a general thing that most people get quite often ~ even when they are not pregnant.

Discharge is discharge is discharge. You can get that from stds, normal monthly cycles, infections, etc. It doesn't have any bearing on pregnancy symptoms - unless you are looking for pregnancy symptoms.

Everything can be explained either way. So relax. Take a test. If you got pregnant on june 4, that has been enough time that a pregnancy test would either be positive or negative. If you don't trust that test, go see a doctor.

Please get on birth control - or your mom is going to be asking a heck of a lot more questions than, "why are you so moody?"

Kia_breizzze: my normal periods last 7-8 days, I usually get spotting around the 4 of each month and start bleeding on the 5th. So from the 4th-11th I usually have my period then I get the spotting again on the 4th of the next month.

So I followed ingi's advice and took the test today. I used first response but I think I messed up the test... I urinated in a cup then placed the tip in for 5 seconds and then put the test flat on the table with it's cap on - I don't think I had enough urine in the cup though but I figured I only needed 5 seconds worth so it should be enough.

Anyway, it's difficult for me to be sure because I took the test at 12:35 and now it's 1:18 and the results are still in the window. There's a really light blob of pink more on the top part of the test right before a pink line. But I heard that it's possible that the dye that makes up the negative line could spread. I read on first response that you shouldn't be able to read a negative test after ten minutes yet the results are still there? I'm just trying my best to be sure. I'm trying to avoid telling my mom, especially if i'm not pregnant.

The directions mean .Do .Not read the test results after 10 minutes or 15 minutes or something - because it can be an evaporation line.

Your first morning urine, as it says on the box, is the best urine to use - especially for early testing since it has the most hcg (pregnancy hormone) in it.

If you are not confident in this test, go to a family planning center near you.
