I Had a Miscarriage And Now.... Posted: 01-15-04 11:00am
I found out I was pregnant a week before
christmas. I started spotting slightly
the 23rd and quit on christmas. My doc
told me this was normal and not t be
alarmed. Well I went for my first
prenatal visit on jan 8th. They gave me
a preg test and it came up neg. So my
guess is that I had a miscarriage when I
was spotting. So now i'm awaiting my
appointment for a d&c and I think I
may be preg again! I haven't taken a
test yet or anything but my breasts are
very sore. Is it possible that I didnt
have a misscariage and for some reason
both the urine and blood test came up neg.
Or could it be that I am preg again? I
dont see how I could be because I thought
it was harder to get preg right after a
miscarriage. Somebody please help
me!!!!

I am sorry about your miscarriage. You
may indeed be pregnant again. I have
heard of women getting preg after a
miscarriage. I was having symptoms of
being preg after my miscarriage but I
think mine were all in my head. I hope
you get the results you want. Baby dust!

any symptoms and now all of the sudden I
have them all back again. I dont know

talking about my symptoms. I think they

It's unlikely that you would still be
pregnant (as opposed to having miscarried)
if both blood & urine tests show
negative but not impossible. The problem
might be that if you did miscarry then
fall pregnant & there's still "stuff"
left inside from the miscarriage that can
become infected & might be bad news
for the second pregnancy. Thing is we're
all different. All you can do is talk to
your dr about all your concerns.

Lots of women say that they didn't get
positive blood tests for up to a month.
It could be anything.

I wouldn't say that it would be unlikely
that you're still pregnant. If you were
just spotting, that definately doesn't
mean that you positively had a
miscarriage. It's highly possible that
you didn't and that your tests just came
up negative. Before you allow any
procedures to be done, I would highly
recommend getting an ultra sound. If your
ob won't grant this, I would walk out of
the office and make an appointment with
someone else. If you allow the d and c to
happen and by some chance you were still
pregnant, you would abort the fetus. I'm
sure this isnt' what you want since you're
concerned about a miscarriage. Good luck
