Girlfriend just finished up the first pack of active pills, she is now on the green (inactive) pills. Is it safe to have sex now?

Woah woah woah.. 2 words for you buddy:

hell no!!!!!!!!

Those "green" ones are sugar pills that she gets at the end of the pack, because she is going to get her period probably in 3 days. Sex is never a great idea during this time unless you have backup contraception such as a condom. Remember..Don't be a fool, wrap your tool.

I work for planned parenthood..When you have a degree and prescribe drugs you tend to know what you are talking about!!!!

Yes she is fully protected during the placebo week.

my favorite line on ehealth ever. Thank you, .Carifairy. Sometimes it feels like an uphill battle to educate people about their bodies and birth control. You are a fantastic resource for this site.

Thanks=)

i usually don't like to tell people my education or too much about where I work, because I have had people ask me to "call em in an rx" or some other request that I cannot do...

I don't want lots of women to become scared that they are not being protected during their placebo week. That would not be so great, lots of paranoia.

Yes cari, thank you so much for your help. I like how uneducated people (aka. People that don't know what they are talking about) are always so quick to respond to questions. Hell no! In two different posts. Sheesh.

On another note, I may not have been clear that this is her first pack. Does that make a difference when considering the placebo week.

No difference at all.
And when she starts her new pack she does not need to wait 7 days.
Also some women do not get their periods for 3 days inot the placebo week, so if it doe not happen 'right away' do not get too worried.
